Well?

I'd kinda not like to do it in the middle of winter again. The snowstorm kinda put a damper on things.

Plus, if it's during the summer I can ride my bike and not spend $100 in gas to get there.

OK, Sept 13th it is

23rd of August works out great for me. It's my regular day off...anyone else?

Oh, and in light of JTP's dinner pic threads I vote we have it at his house.

Negative Ghost Rider, the pattern is full. We're remodeling and have a baby on the way so it would be a bit much for the misses and myself. . I could help with cooking if we went the bbq direction and I was able to attend.

I think I have a weekend free in December if that will help. Of course I will have to check with my wife, Tommytrauma (my other social director), and FMD (my duck hunting buddy) to determine if I have any other weekends off.

How about 23 Aug?

Remember, we were trying to avoid the whole December thing...bad weather and to cold to ride the motorcycle.

I know it doesn't help this time around, but next year if I do another pig roast you all are invited.

I work weekends so I pretty much miss anything like this.

Apparently there isn't much interest for an ARF get together now though.

Meh, I tried.

Those mentioned above have a fairly full late summer/fall/early winter schedule.

Just sayin'.

Golden Corral in Oshkosh, Plover or Appleton all have a meeting room that would seat around 50 people and costs nothing to use them.

Buffet style restaruant cost around 10.00 per person plus drink.(non alcoholic)

Well here is how it goes.

When a guy asks for help and people volunteer, you tell them about a little more work they might need to help with and boom it's a ghost town. crickets........

I am sorry wrong thread.

Anyway WIHTF guys and gals get together eat drink and be merry. BS a bit then go home.

40 say they are coming, 37 bow out in the last 2 days before the dinner. Then the core group shows up and pretends it's someones birthday so the staff can sing happy birthday to them. All the while the "birthday" boy is confused and getting pissed.

It's a good time.

My buddy FT forgot to mention the jokes about sexual deviancy made to each other's wives/girlfriends, but otherwise he hit it.

BTW pal, if I didn't have a funeral to go to...
Link Posted: 7/24/2008 1:04:06 PM EDT
Bottom line a bunch of Arfcommers get together and eat a good meal (usually steak *hint* *hint* if I wind up making it) and sit around shooting the breeze for a little while. It is basicly just to try and get to know a few people on the board other than the few whack jobs I have met.

It is a good time and pretty relaxed (besides that it gets my wife off my back about taking her out to eat for a little while).

Hell, that sounds like fun! Beer and steak, I could go for that.
And I guess it would be best to leave the girlfriend at home so she doean't get ripped to shreads by everyone...

Actually most people are on their best behavior (except Flamethrower, FMD, Pita, and Tommytrauma). So feel free to bring along the wives/girlfriends. I brought mine along for the last couple and she had a good time.

Before the "Pics or Ban" comes up I'm not posting pics, but she will probably go with me if there is a dinner.
Then she can show you the pics of her shooting the Barrett or posing with her M4.

OK, sounds like it has been decided, (if not I guess I just made an executive decision) it's going to be 23 Aug. Now where are we going to have it? None suggested the fox valley so everyone there didn't need to drive as far. That's fine with me I'm driving either way. Preference seems to be a decent sit down place, not buffet if possible. Apparently we have a germophobe or two in our midst.

I know we had talked about a pizza place of some sort last time...

If you can cook a pizza on a grill and make it taste like a steak than I am all for it.

ETA: all the Arfcom dinners so far have involved a steak place, lets not break tradition here folks.
Link Posted: 7/24/2008 2:19:38 PM EDT
Aug 23 works for me. A steak place is preferred.
However in WI tradition Heckles would work too...

Fine, we can do steak...I like steak.
Link Posted: 7/24/2008 3:40:49 PM EDT
Ok steak it is, are we talking a place like Grizzlies or Applebees?
Or another steak place?
We have set the date, Aug 23, but how about the time and place?
I'll drive a ways, but at 17 miles per gallon I don't want to be driving to Kenosha and back.

Pita, you know my AO, where do you think would be the best for everyone?
Link Posted: 7/24/2008 3:53:07 PM EDT
Me and the sidekick are willing to travel from Madison up to the Fox Valley for this thing so everyone else can suck it up and come out and meet with us. I know Pita travels a long way as well to come out and see all you deadbeats.

If you can find a couple of people from your AO you can always carpool (as long as the people you are carpooling with chip in for gas).
Link Posted: 7/24/2008 4:38:23 PM EDT
Excellent, whats a good restaurant in the Fox Valley??
Link Posted: 7/24/2008 4:53:45 PM EDT
Kodiak Jacks in Oshkosh is good little pricey 2 people eat for around 70.00 with drinks included.

Er...something I neglected to do when I got a ride to Milwaukee for the reloading event. And was scolded by my wife when getting home.

My hope was to make up to the unnamed driver at another AR event but I do not know if I can attend on the 23rd or not.

Can't make August 23, prior commitment that evening.

*yawn*

I drove for damn near three hours that night. Each way.

For christ sakes I live about 30 minutes south of Eau Claire.

So I don't wanna hear your bitching

They drove from Cudahay to Beloit to Madison, and then back the same way.

Guessing they had a longer trip.

BTW, Flamethrower started the midget conversation (for some reason, he's got a complex about his height). *shrug*

I may have participated in the mushroom caper, but only in retaliation for it being foisted upon me first.

Now the birthday deal, that one I'll take credit for, but only to protect the SO of the intended target (it was her idea).

Oshkosh works for me, since we are all bitching its only 300 miles round trip...

I should be back in town for the 23rd of Aug... Should be able to make this one.

In the Appleton area I'd suggest Good Company as a decently priced, good food type place where a large group could go.
