We're kiinda getting geared up for a roadtrip to Eastern oregon for a Machinegun shoot. No one's really planned a shoot before that.

How about the June 10th, it would be the day after the PR match so we would not have to clean all the guns twice.

There is a WA Shoot April 7-9 for anyone interested. It is approximately half way between Portland and Seattle.

Little off topic, but I ran into Bushwacker and WantsanRRA at a pit outside of Eugene this afternoon. They were leaving just as we were showing up so I didn't really get a chance to talk to them, but we agreed we needed to get a little shoot together. So uh, if any Eugene/Springfield/Albany arfcommers are interested in a little get-toghter sometime, I know those guys are game.

True, but for the social event aspect you can't beat an LCR Shoot. I have been to some where I didn't shoot one round all weekend and had a great time.

You know, I was thinking of a service project/ possible shoot for April/May sometime.

A few people have commented on how crappy Memaloose looks. Maybe we could get a few members together and have a small shoot there and clean up as much trash as we can. I have access to a 4'x6'x3' utility trailer we could fill up. Probably find some way to make the collected brass pay for the dump fee.

Might be good PR to have us toothless, mouthbreathing, violent-as-hell, redneck gun-nuts do something nice for the community and hopefully they won't close down our shooting spots.

Just a thought I have been mulling over...

Prompt-

I'd be in on that for sure. I've got a pick 'em up truck and some tools. A quad as well, but not sure if that would help. Maybe spend the morning shooting, then cleanup after noon or so? If we could get 5+ people up there that are willing to do a little work, I'm sure we could make a huge difference.

Cool, that's one!

I don't think the quad will be necessary. All we'll probably need are gloves, maybe some rope, and clothes we don't care about messing up. Oh, and trailers and p/u's. Basically, just clean up the brass, shotshells, appliances and target remnants left there by the inconsiderate.

Sunday's work best for me. People might want to bring gloves, garbage bags and tools (rake/shovel). If you're collecting brass, bring a bucket. When?

Sundays sound good. Any day in April or May, as long as the snow has melted. I do have plans on the 23rd of April, what else is available?

I am in Corvallis and would be up for some fun.

Sundays work best for me too. and I am good to bring home a bag or 2 of trash.

The new baby arrives tomorrow so the first part of April is most likely out.

Late April or May works best for me.

I'll be there if the dates fit.

We should leave a sign behind saying it was cleaned up by ARFCOM.

Sounds like a really good idea, but I imagine that any sign we leave will only last until someon blasts it.

How does Sunday April 30th sound?

I definitely want to do this, I posted some comments on doing such a thing after our Memaloose shoot.

But not 4/30 ! I'll be out of town then. And please not 5/6...we happy few Arfcomm runners will be running the Hagg Lake 10K then....

Also I'll take point on contacting the Rangers or whatever alphabet agency is reponsible for that area to let them know about our cleanup -- just for PR (that's public relations, not practical rifle!).

Is that cool with everyone???

Ok, here's some possible dates:

Apr 16
May 7
May 14

I'm good for all these, let's narrow it down.

ETA: That's Mt Hood Nat. Forest right? Lets see if we can find contact info for them...

Got it I think:

Clackamas River Ranger District - Estacada Ranger Station
595 NW Industrial Way
Estacada, OR 97023
Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:45am - 4:30pm
Closed on National Holidays

May 7 or 14 are my choice. I can't make Apr 16.
Link Posted: 3/21/2006 1:33:21 PM EDT
Ok, I'm leaning towards May 7th.

How does that sound?

That might work. We're trying to get a Team ARFCOM run for May 6th. Not sure if I can stay the entire week end or not but we'll see.

Yeah May 7 sounds great!

May 7th works and so does April 16th.

I've never been up there, but I imiagine its like every other shooting area that's trashed. We did a similiar thing in Arizona one time and the Ranger station helped us out by dropping off a roll-off bin for the weekend. I dunno if this place has good enough access for them to do it, but it doesn't hurt to mention it to them. Also, just ask if they can do anything to help us, usually they'll help out some way.
Link Posted: 3/21/2006 3:09:24 PM EDT
Alright. May 7th it is!

What's the plan?

Figure show up in the morning, do some shooting at the big pit, clean up our crap and whatever is there we can take, then work our way down the road, stopping at the clearings to pick up the other stuff. I hope there aren't any cars or appliances...

Probably want to put the brass in buckets so we can do something useful with it.

When we get something put together, I'll give the rangers a heads up. Maybe they will help us out.

WTF? As soon as I nail something down, I get no more action?
Link Posted: 3/22/2006 8:13:41 PM EDT
May 7th sounds great. Just plan on getting there relatively early (maybe 9-10 or so) shoot till noon or 1:00 and spend the rest of the afternoon cleanig up.

Everyone should bring whatever tools they can (rakes, shovel?,gloves). We'll also need plenty of trashbags.

I'll bring a cooler full of water and gatorade, but everyone should plan on bringing whatever else they may need (like food)

(Maybe we should start a new thread with directions and date time info again.)

That's early??

9 - 10 is LATE morning (and I wont even mention the "or so"... ). Hell, work starts at 8 for most (except Alma). Should I be able to make it, I'll be there by 7:30... and that's after fishing for a few hours first.

Sleep... Ha! Time enough for sleep in the grave.

ha, I'm on college time, anything before noon constitutes early and requires that I plan ahead so I can get to bed early.... like before 3am.
