With a job in Decatur near I-20 and I-285, where would you guys recommend a guy live?

That's a tough one... really depends on how long of a commute you are willing to put up w/ and how much of that commute is in traffic.

As with anything in ATL, it depends what time of day you are going, but I'm sure you already knew that.

If you get too far south of there and you'll be fighting traffic on 285 going north to get to Decatur. Coming South on 285 (on the east side) is going against traffic in the mornings. Get up 85N any and you'll be fighting traffic coming south until you reach 285 in the am. Out I20 east and traffic in the ams again... seeing a pattern here

I certainly wouldn't recommend living at i-20 and 285.

Probably second the Lilburn vote. Social Circle is nice but the commute would probably suck.

Just to the inside of Northlake Mall on LaVista wouldn't be bad. A large Jewish community there. Very quiet and clean ITP area that isn't too expensive.

The less crime riddled patches that aren't terrible expensive are few and far between inside the perimeter. The Highlands, parts of Buckhead, Peachtree Hills/Ptree Battle are about the only ones that come to mind. Anywhere outside 285 but still fairly close and you're still going to have hoodlums running around.

A LONG GD way ..... I used to live over on Jimmy Carter and 29 ....... its not that bad to just run down 85 to 285 then all the way up 75 ... its about a 70 mile trip one way ....... takes roughly an hour and 20 mins. Moved to Duluth and it still takes about that long to get there ..... but some of that is ate up going down PIB unless the light gods like me that morning.

Brad, I have a 3 bed 2 bath double wide on 4.5 acres in Loganville I'll give you a killer deal on if interested. It's off Hwy 81 above Walnut Grove.

It is on a paved road, county water etc and it's not in a trailer park.

It will be available in a few short weeks

It needs a little work, but I will give you a killer deal on rent if you are interested.

I'll rent it for $295.00 a month, that's right $295.00 a month which will cover the property tax with a little left over.

I will not do any maintenance repairs etc at that price.

If you like the area and the property after renting I would also sell it to you.

Decatur is an straight shot down Hwy 78.

Shoot me a PM or call me at the shop tomorrow if interested.

I agree with LarryG. I'd go east on I-20. The traffic isn't as bad trying to get in and out on I-20 as it is dealing with 285 and/or 85-75 coming from other parts of the metro. Monroe or even Madison wouldn't be bad compared to fighting traffic coming from the northside everyday. The extra few miles are well worth it.

Heck, I am in Dalton and it only takes an hour to get to creekside. I am pretty sure I would go mad if I had to deal with the traffic yall deal with.....

Guys help me out since Brad D isn't ready to move.

As previously stated, I'll rent it cheap to a handyman type to keep it occupied. Bad things happen to vacant houses so a little rent is better than a vandalized or burned down house.

The place is paid for so rent to own is also a possibility as well as an outright sale.
