Damn

I've met him on more than one occasion and used to process a lot of his film back in the late 80's. He was probably one of the foremost experts on cave diving. I wouldn't have been surprised if he had died in some extreme cave diving accident pushing the technology envelope but to have died in open water is just a shock. He was an all around nice guy. I'm going to guess either a heart attack or aneurysm.

ETA: He did a lot of extensive cave mapping and hydrology work. All around Alachua county you see little signs put up that say Springs Protection Area with a diver logo. You could tell him where you live and he could tell you something about the aquifer and the geology of your property. I was at the opening preview of his "Waters Journey.." movie, showed it at the little High Springs Priest theater, he was there chatting it up with people after the show.

I've never met him, but I know of of him and have seen some of his film work.  My prayers are with his friends and family.

ETA:  He went out doing something he certainly loved.

WOW! I'm shocked! I've met him on several occasions in cave country and he was one of the nicest guys out there. If you would listen, he'd bend your ear for hours. What a great loss to the diving and video community!

A friend and fellow AR-15er called and told me this AM. I'm really saddened; he was a true treasure to diving, and natural Florida in general.

I was told he was on a breather..... So that opens up a bunch of possible reasons

Damn ... three miles off Boynton Beach inlet ... I used to live there and used to fish and snorkel in and around that inlet when I was younger.

Prayers out to his family ... he most certainly will be missed.
