Went to the Salem gun show, wasn't much but Carlos from westcoastmachineguns had a table there. He had on display a Gemtech m4-02 on a m4forgery and an outbackII on a 10/22. He told me he successfully delivered nearly 20 unit to a certain police agency in Western Oregon for the m4-02 and he backs Gemtech 100%. Says the coppers are happy campers with it and love the sound reduction.

Anyways,
He said to me that if I can get at least 5 ore more people the price for a gemtech m4-02 will be $450 and the outback II will be $250.

If there is more than 5, he stated it can go down a little more.

Anyone have interest or ??

Robert Silverstein's site gave the m4-02 a high rating for 2005 awards for a threaded .223 can. Did very well and beat many cans so I guest you can say its the best of the best out there. Who knows what it is this year...but we all know Gemtech stands behind their stuff.

I don't know much more details but he just wanted to see if their are others that would be interested as more so than I myself. I'm looking at a m4-02 for an SPR project I have going and if I can get it way below retail or NORMAL, heck I'll run it and organize it and deal with it.

If there are any other cans from Gemtech that sparks interest  and if we can do 5 or more, he can look into seeing how the price will go but so far the price above is what he told me if there are 5 or more for those 2 cans.

Anyways.....if this goes...don't I need to ask permission from the mod gods or ??

I've ran a group buy before for some FAL receivers and also for some HK products and lasergrips from Crimson trace. Alot of work but it was fun and well worth it in knowing that there are other enthusiast such as myself.

I really don't know. Personally, I am more akin to maybe making this an official gemtech groupbuy in the groupbuy section in the board. Who knows.

All I do know is that carlos needs 5 or more of the same cans ordered and paid for to have the discount.

But I will ask.

Wow...I wonder which agency it was that bought all those cans!
Is it a secret?  Could it be: Salem; Eugene; Medford???hock.gif

Does anybody know?hinking.gif

If this was Feb. or somewhere after I get my taxes back I'd be in for a Outback II, perhaps even late Dec after I get a check or 2 during break from school.  What did he say about transfers on top of that?

Besides, group buys have to have "approval" before they go thru

Is that the "west side" stamp of approval, or something different, that you are refering too?

So my ? would be how much does he plan on charging for a transfer? IF he charges what Pat has in the pass it's a good deal IF he charge what most CIII's charge of $200 then thats not a good deal.

If he's doin' a Pat transfer fee I might be in on this.

Like everyone else, I'd be interested in an outback, but it all depends on the tranfer fee.

hmm I'm being told that another dealer WE ALL KNOW VERY WELL, can do better than Carlos.

Who knows....if that is what everyone wants and if we can get 5 or more, hell maybe an outback II is the way to go, or for 200 smackers more .223 can.

Let's see where it goes I guess.

I want a YHM quick attach 5.56 can!

Oh, better pay Uncle Sam for the other three cans I have first.

You know that isn't a concern, can's are small, I can store.
I still have one of the TAC-16 from LAST October!

If you get me some Contact info on the Damn Yankee, I can check on prices for you . . .

I'd personally am welcome to any can at the moment but I'd like to stick with the gemtech if possible.

I don't think there will be much convincing for me to try a quick detach. Very happy with the threaded option for now.

For what it's worth, EKinOR is a Gemtech dealer, if I remember correctly.  If you're going to pursue a Gemtech group buy, talk to a fellow arfcommer first.

All group buys, if done via board in this forum, have to have my approval and staff's approval first

no one arguing that, and this is only a guage to check interest, which I believe is allowed.  Anyways I was talking about if this got legs, not having someone trying to disrupt it.

First of all, I am just trying to gauge interest. Nothing else. I could care less about Carlos or anyone else or even Ekin or Pat or whatever. I am just trying to get a good price for a can and hopefully ,I was just hopefully, in a dull sort of thinking, that maybe there were others too that are interested in getting a good deal on a gemtech can.

So far, one of the dealers emailed me and gave me a totally better price than what Carlos is going to offer.

I have no serious loyalty to anyone or any dealer, just want the best price for something even if it means working or waiting a little while longer.

Ekin is cool but he is in Eastern Oregon and for what its worth running there and than back to  Salem, eats up any savings in that arena. Any other dealer...besides Pat is a losing probability because the transfer fee eats stuff up too, Dick Thoma wants 100 bucks to transfer a can and some others various anywhere from 75-100. Who knows.....in the end most likely I would rather go to Pat in doing the deal, easy to deal with and he knows his stuff.

Right now....this other dealer WHO YOU ALL KNOW, has a better price for Gemtech for both of them..and now maybe it would be best to just deal with him if its possible.

For now, I will just say there there is little interest in a group buy from Carlos.

He's a good guy and he just threw that out at me when I was at the Salem show...it was nice of him to think of others on the board but there are others that can do better.
