DIck Baker posted this on the high road. I'm going. Who else?

Next Wednesday the state senate is going to debate SB214, the Personal
Protection Act concealed carry bill, and will then vote on the bill.

While it's certain to pass, we need to make sure we have enough votes to
override Governor Doyle's expected veto. If we can get that number of votes
on the first go-round, it will make it easier to retain those votes for the
override session later on.

A large turnout of gunowners in the gallery will help put pressure on those
senators who claim to be pro-gun. Nothing makes a legislator's heart pound
harder than seeing scores of registered voters watching him vote.

If at all possible, please try to make it to the Capitol on Wednesday. The
gallery is on the third floor. Use the South elevators. The bill should come
up sometime after noon. If you arrive early, use that time to visit your
legislators' offices to tell them to vote for the bill and for the veto
override.

The veto override vote is going to be extremely close and, while we think
there may well be the votes needed to override, we cannot take chances. We
need to utilize every tactic available to achieve victory.

So please make every effort to be there for this historic vote.

Subject: Alert!: PPA in Senate delayed to THURSDAY

Today the Joint Committee on Finance took up debate on Senate Bill
214, the Personal Protection Act.  Democrats have offered over 50 amendments
in an effort to water down and kill the bill in committee today.

The Senate must schedule bills for debate on the Senate floor 18
hours prior to the beginning of the floor period.  That deadline is 4:00
today.  Because the Democrats have many amendments to consider yet today by
the Joint Finance Committtee, Senate Bill 214 will be unavailable for the
Senate Floor tomorrow.

Sorry for the late notice, and please let everyone you know who had
plans to be in the Capitol to watch the floor debate to NOT come WEDNESDAY.
Thursday is the new goal date for a Senate vote on concealed carry.

Also, continue the phone calls to your legislators to encourage them to NOT
water down and kill the bill with amendments.  We are being bombarded by
people and groups that want to prohibit carry everywhere, which will make
the bill worthless.

We'll keep you posted in these critical days.

Also, you may listen to debete NOW in the Joint Finance Committee at
www.legis.state.wi.us, just click "Joint Finance Committee Audio".  Thursday
you can tune in to the Senate debate on the same site, click "Senate In
Session".

************************

I just spoke with Senator Zien's office, and his staffer said that Senator
Gwenolynne Moore alone has introduced over 60 amendments to try to kill this
bill. Senator Zien's office will be in constant contact, and I'll send out
more news as his office supplies it.

This is dirty politics.
