    1. Military and Veteran Licenses

Currently legislation is being considered by both the Washington Legislature that may modify the information contained below. Please consider this issue when reading what is in place at this time for the requirements to purchase or secure a fishing license in the State of Washington if you are currently active or are a veteran of any of our Armed Forces.

      Military and Veterans

Currently the state of Washington does not provide a reduced rate or free license for Veterans unless there is a medical or service related disability. These are as follows:

      • Resident veterans with a service connected disability of 30% or more.

      • Resident veterans 65 years of age or older with a service connected disability

If these conditions apply, an application for reduced fees or a designated Harvester card must be processed through a Department of Fish and Wildlife office. To request an application or for more information write: WDFW Licensing Division, 600 Capitol Way N, Olympia, WA 98501-1091; or call (360) 902-2464; or visit the agency website at http://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov

To apply for disability status you will need to complete the recreational disability application and return it to our main office. Our mailing address is 600 Capitol Way N; Olympia WA 98501 or you can fax the application to (360) 902-2466.

Please allow 2 weeks for processing, if you do not receive a notice on your application after 2 weeks please contact our office at (360) 902-2464

I was not previously aware of this....

BTW, What they require is the VA Rating letter...

I love how in this state, one can get special military license plates (available only to Active, Reserve, Guard & Veterans) and get to pay an extra $30 per year on top of standard registration fees.  Source:  http://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistration/specialdesign.html#military

Many other states not only do not charge extra for similar plates, many other states also waive registration renewal for those currently serving.

ETA:  Looks like Unicorn is eligible for a free, perpetual license plate.  http://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistration/spdav.html According to the site, "A 100% service-connected disability rating from the Veterans
Administration or the military service from which the veteran was
discharged
."

In this state its all about how much money they can squeeze out of people....and they get pissed when people goto OR/ID for smokes and booze, but they let OR residents shop in WA and not pay our sales tax...WTF.....

The Sales tax in WA is the primary reason all of my big ticket purchases are done on base..(watch for the clearances on cloths-seasonal, got 4 mountain bikes once for about $175.00, AC window units two for $100.00) Case lot sales on canned and frozen Food......we have friends call us that live on base and let us know of the sales so we can drive up...
