The ore freighter is a good visit.

You can also grab a decent burger at the rotating restaurant at the top of the Radison.

+1 for stopping in Duluth

The whole north shore from Duluth on up is pretty spectacular IMO. If you can, stop by Gooseberry falls or Split Rock light house.

Split Rock

The view from the lighthouse

This goober at the falls last year. This is just one part of the falls

You could always stop at Itasca state park...not sure how far out of the way it is? No offense to whoever said Reed's but most of their gun stuff is overpriced. Pretty much the only thing worth doing in Walker is going to Benson's for pizza (awesome pizza)

Cool. I love Leech Lake. Walleye or Musky? Will you be fishing guided or unguided? It's a pretty damn big lake, so I'd suggest at least hiring a guide on the first day to take you out, show you some areas to fish, or else it can be kind of overwhelming because there are so many options.

+1 for Benson's, some of the best pizza I've had.

Itasca's about an hour from Walker, IIRC.  Been a few years since I made that trip.

Yea its about an hour depends on wether you take the back scenic roads or the highway. I ment if he was going straight to Duluth i didnt know how far out of the way it was. OP you could always run over to Akeley and see Paul Bunyan If your near Akeley definitely go to the Stompin Grounds...They have awesome burgers...and awesome everything else I use to ride 4 wheeler there quite a bit.

ETA: If you want to make the drive to Dorset (about 25 miles or so from Walker)  i would HIGHLY recommend Companero's...best mexican food ever!

Meh, Tobie's isn't what it used to be 30 years ago.   There are much better mom and pop bakeries in the various small towns to stop in along the way.
