I took this from the General Discussions:

www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=382741

Just in case you miss it. This really pisses me off, I wish these people would go crawl back in their hole.

Heh.

It looks like some boys from the 101st may drop by to "chat" with Fred and his cult.

Rumor has it that Protest Warrior is on it too.  While I respect people's desire to show up in opposition to Fred Phelps and his band of merry dumbasses, it seems that two competing protests could add even more troubles to the already grieving families.

No good can come from this.

Lots of room to counter protest on Hwy 12 at the National guard armory in Ashland City. Redneck central and some good eats up the road in town. Could be fun.

Not me. I want to open up a HUGE can of "ass whip" on these sorry bastards!

I guess I'll park down the street & walk up so as to not give away my tag number.
Maybe take bail money too?

Assholes, we don't put up with this shit down South!

i was thinking more in line with the 'silent protest', at the very least, forming a line in front of them and facing them so as to separate them from the funeral, even block their view and others' view of them.

That's probably best...  Use flags to obstruct their signs like a group did here,

I'm about 40 minutes from Smyrna & would gladly join in whatever form of counter-protest is decided on so long as it does not disturb the loved ones of the deceased. I would dearly love to wade through those deluded asshats protesting this funeral but jail has been deemed a doghouse punishable event by the wife.

Symrna. The gun show is this weekend, I'll shop that morning & puke on these assholes that afternoon. Providing, of course, there's any left after our Cheatham Co. brothern are through with them!

Looks like I'll be losing my CCL for 2 years or so. Oh, well, it's for a good cause.

I'm also in Smyrna an I talked to Tesnevo about it.Honestly ya'll, I get so damned mad when I think about these FPOS, that I seriously think I could not control my anger and would end up beating these UNBELIEVABLE FUCKIN' PIECES OF GARBAGE into a bloody pulp or worse.
I've got a big ol' can of anti-bear pepper spray that I've never tested but the FP'sOS are gonna have thier kids there , I'm sure just for that reason. One can only imagine what they are teaching thier kids.

tagged.

I'm honestly not sure I can make it - but tagged nevertheless to see where this goes.

I could probably be convinced to show up for this.

I despise what this man and his cult are doing, not only to the soldier's family, but also to the Gospel.

I'll check back in tonight when I know for sure what my previous committments are tomorrow. I'd seriously like to show up if a counter-protest is planned.

This morning on the Steve Gill Show he was talking to the daughter of the head of this fruitloop church. She is a lawyer for the group. She sounded like a nut. She said she was gonna be in Smyrna along with her 11 kids at the rally.

I got moving too late this morning and only caught the tail end of his show where they played "Arlington". Damn, I would have liked to hear what the idiot has to say. It just amazes me when I look at their website how f#$ked up their mentality is. I'm 100% committed to the counter-protest in Smyrna, but I might have to walk away at some point to cool down.

I'm not going since a counter-demonstration could make this worse.  I ask a few things:

Excercise restraint (you're better than they are).

Someone take a camera and a video camera.

Keep us updated.

I just got off the phone with Smyrna First United Methodist and the church secretary told me the family does not want a counter-protest. After cooling down a little I can understand their point, their son died protecting the rights of this Kansas trash and this is a day to focus on the departed not give those asshats more attention. I am going to go and pay my respects, but I will not go against the wishes of Staff SGT Hawn's family.

These people are absolutely nuts.  It amazes me how they try to manipulate the word of God.

Oh my I need a dang break from all these retards in this country.  We got people outside Walter Reed Medical Center protesting.  What the crap.

Serenity now.....serenity now.....

ETA:  Dont go to their website.  It only makes you madder.  This group needs to be blocked from everyones view with American flags.

ETA:

the family does not want a counter-protest

Who said anything about a counter-protest.  I think I hear a bunch of Patriotic Americans that want to come out and pay respects to a Service member of our Great Nation for paying the Ultimate sacrifice for Freedom.

God Bless SGT Reese, SSG Hawn and the thousands others that sacrifice their freedom in order to Defend Ours!

We are all invited to the funeral to pay our respects according to the church's secretary. I think anything else will be playing right into what this asshat from Kansas wants and will be the opposite of what the family of SSGT Hawn's family wants.

The family's wishes should be respected.  It would be funny, though, if someone local were to find their van and unload a can of bear spray into it when nobody's looking - if it isnt a rental.  It's a long drive back to Kansas.

I would go but they don't want us there.  Their son died for our freedoms and the least we can do is respect their wishes.  We should check on the other family and see if there is anything we can do for them in regards to the protestors.

For some reason I knew this post would be here.

I really need to buy that firetruck to restore. It could come in handy at times.

I have a feeling that the locals (his freinds) will show them how things are done (or not done) around here. I know if that where to happen in my county they would have a hard time protesting.

For some reason I picture two Sergants looking down and laughing there asses off.

As bad as I want to show, out of respect to the families and concern as to what I would do, I will pass on the show up.

As the law provides they have a right to free speech, but as darkness allows, we have a right to express our disagreance with their free speech.

I just did a drive by recon off the church. Nothing happening yet. There were maybe 6 cars in the parking lot. I didn't see anybody.

About 2 blocks away there were about 6 Smyrna PD cars gathered in a parking lot.

I just got back from the funeral. I was outside the church. There were lots of American flags and support signs.

Tha assclown protesters were kept on the main drag thru Smyrna about 2 blocks away. They had a permit to demonstrate between 1 and 2. At precisely 2 PM they were escorted out of town. I never saw them.

It was pretty cool and everyone was friendly.

There were about 250 people there. I thought a town of 25k people could make a better showing then this.

Of course, we're gun owners!

Many (as I ) were dissuaded by the family's wishes of no counter protest. Personally, I'd like to have given them a first class TN ass whooping. Nice to see some still went, though.
