He had surgery today to put a plate in his arm, with fifteen screws.  He's doped up pretty much on Percocet for the pain right now, once it's manageable with oral meds, which the doctors think will be in a few days, he'll be discharged for convalescent leave, then therapy.  He'll probably wait until after Christmas to fly back to the States.  He expects it to be about thirty days before he can put any weight on that arm, then eight months or so to 100%.

Nine months to a year to recover from having his arm bone (humerus) shattered and muscle damage isn't bad, they've been telling us since early on that he should recover fully, that there were no signs of nerve damage and the injury did not include any joints.   Realize that "100%" for him is being in better condition than the majority of people in the country, he competed in the Best Ranger Competition in 2009 (and completed it).  I'm confident that he'll be pushing the pace of rehabbing that arm, fortunately it's his non-dominant arm.

For the folks in south Georgia, SPC Kelly Mixon is from Yulee, FL,  just north of Jacksonville, his family has invited the Patriot Guard to attend his memorial service, but details have not been released yet.
