It is a modified "CMP-type" course of fire. I'm speeding it up a bit. 100 yards (our max range), using any military- style centerfire rifle, iron sights, shooting from field positions-prone, sitting, offhand. Use of a sling is allowed. 50 total shots fired. 20 shots prone/slow fire, 10 minutes. 10 shots prone, 70seconds, with a mandatory mag change. 10 shots offhand, 5 minutes. 10 shots sitting, 70 seconds with required mag change. You will need some type of shooting mat, and a spotting scope will be allowed for the prone/slow fire course of fire, allowing for sight adjustment if needed. There will be a minimal charge for targets. $2 for club members, $4 for non-club members. First date:June 18th. Sign-up starting at 9AM until 11AM. Next shoot dates: July 30 and August 27. Afterwards, there are a couple of decent places nearby for food, beer, and conversation, including one restaurant with a big deck overlooking Otisco Lake. |

I'm there.... can I bring my mini-14 folder..is that military style enough ;)
Me and the M1A will be waiting.... I didn't know there was other handguns other than a 1911. |
All your CMP shoots are belong to me!
ps-yes yes those superior 1911s, was fun watching 3 of you trying to repair one of those things last night. Kind of nostaglic, like watching the last of the buggy whip makers plying his craft outside the Granny Gun Home for Elderly Gunnutz. |
Goddamn penguin, there goes another clean monitor.....
Yes, 80 series FPs are a pain in the ass. Poor Doug. That is why I like my Springfields. At least no one knocked their plastic rear sights off last night, and all the ugly plastic guns made it home safe Although one guy with a Glock managed to cut the hell out of his strong hand...HTH did he manage that |
Just bring your SOPMOD. That is close enough |
I see what I can do with the new M1A, its no match for the mini thats for sure....
but maybe with the magic TRW barrel I can squeeze a few good ones off. |
didn't keebler elves make the trw parts? So it should shhot like magic
Enough with the M1A stuff. We don't want to tip our hands to the mousegunners
Did your scars finally heal after your last close encounter with one? The club is located N of Otisco Lake, town of Marcellus. |
Maby someone with a Ballerina Molester will up-stage both the 1911's and the Grocks..
I sure would like to attend, just keep us posted. Now that I've opened my mouth, I had better put some practice time in. |
If the penguin brings one of them there Glock thingies,I am NOT shooting!
Hey, if you guys want to shoot your pistols at a 6" black circle at 100 yards for score in a RIFLE match, more power to you! The addition should be easy
Ahem, FP1201, "Molester?" |
I did pretty well with my Springfield after about the 3rd run, still couldn't get it back in the holster though...
I did better with my IZZY FAL clone than the mousegun... Next time I might bring the secret weapon! I almost took out the rest of the guys with the brass slinging outta the IZZY though, it was ejecting so well some made it on the tin roof abouve and 15feet to my right! ICU, anytime you want to do another road trip, let me know! We had a great time with the Penguin & SP10. GoodOrbit, Congrats on the new additin, got your E-mail today! |
If I remember correctly, I did see one FTF, & it wasnt the GLOCK! Anytime AD1, its always a great time w/ that crew. -Justin

Talk about a thread hi-jack Play nice boys, or you will ALL get the special "ED" sized targets in my rifle match. Think postage stamp |
"Special Ed"
First weekend in July is the long 4th of July weekend, people will probably be out of town that weekend. I have already been told that I have plans that weekend. |
I wondered if anyone would notice that. Heh, no bad pun intended. Really Uh, Bob, can you reinstall me if Ed gives me the boot I think the July 4th weekend is the PERFECT weekend to shoot, but then again, I shoot damn near every weekend. |

That's the nic-name someone applied to Ballester Molinas: "ballerina molester" some how sounds better than Bowl Movement A fine weapon, a good shooter does not make. |

No comment, as I'm rather partial to wasting time here |
In from syracuse, sounds like a good time. Me and my AKM would love to go.......
BTT with a firm date.
The match will be held at the Otisco Lake Rod and Gun Club www.olrgc.com/default.aspx This club is ~20 miles SW of Syracuse. Hope to see you guys there! |
Well, no, but any targets next to the penguins are in danger of extra holes |
Got it.
One more stupid question.Do we need to fill the pick-up truck tanks for this shooting excercise? |
No, unless you lose yet another map on how to get to Otisco and take the Albany shortcut |
Sorry.i should have been more precise and clear. I meant,is drive-by style shooting going to be part of this meet? You know, bed of pickup used as platform. thank you! |
I know PERFECTLY well what you meant. (smart ass!)
I'm saving that particular training exercise for deer season at your place |
You can count me in Marc... it's pretty nice down there in Otisco....

The nice thing is, those of us lucky enough to go to Adirondack1's party the weekend will have our shootin' eye all tuned up. |
Oh for heavens sake, your eye is tuned plenty already! Aimless, myself and others, should be given a chance to catch up to the experts (indian name: nutswhoshootinfreezingcold ) BTW the place to eat by the lake that SP10 mentioned is good for pizza(only thing i have eaten there) and has a nice view of the lake if we sit outside! |

No optics will be allowed. Shooting is at 100 yards from field positions. A sling may be used in all positions. The firearm may be supported by use of your sling or body only. The “official NRA small bore rifle” target will be used in all match stages. 500 total points possible. |
Man, I can't believe the time is here already!
Well AFAIK I will attend...Can I use an AR-50? Friend of mine has both the AR-50 and AR-30 in .338 Lapua, all I gott do is feed them. |
Glenn, if you want to shoot the AR50 offhand 10 rds, and sitting 10 rds in 40 seconds, we'll give you a solo relay just to watch! (That and no one else will want to be on the line with the .50's muzzle blast!) PLUS, I'll pay your entry fee to help offset ammo $! If you want to bring it down just to shoot afterwards, you are more than welcome! We occasionally shoot .50s at the club. Actually, we can do a "fun" shoot after the matches are all completed if folks want. I have no idea how many guys are actually coming. A match will take roughly 20-25 minutes to complete, 4 shooters/relay. |
BTT now that GATM3 is officially under wrap! 6 days and counting.
The penguin and I will doubtless resume our duel. After his excellent performance at GATM3, it could be tight. I'm betting he will be working on his rapid-prone this week! Please post or IM me if you can attend. |
I heard he beat you fair and square, but that you were not willing to concede? Is there any truth to that............or are you going to concede? |
Ed, Ed, Ed...you heard wrong. I won't concede. NO NO NO! darn it....the foul fowl didn't win!
Really. |
I heard he cried Friday night when he couldn't get his musket sighted in....
Now that is almost true. I couldn't shoot for shit Friday night. Hot, hazy, humid; Fogging glasses, I couldn't see the target clearly with my NM sights to save my butt. Thankfully Saturday AM was better. I can't tell you how relieved I was to see my 1st shot nicely in the black after shotgun-like patterns the night before. I had a nice match and ended up with a decent score. A father/son team who shoot a lot of CMP matches kicked my can. I tend to shoot fast and was checking out my fellow relays' targets. These guys had all 9s and 10s during the slow/prone. The only station I equalled or beat them was offhand. |
Well, you guys are having too much fum while I am doing too much work!
