Jeremy Atkinson holds a copy of "Socialist Worker" in the LBJ Library lobby. Several students gathered to protest the evening´s speaker, Ann Coulter.

Incessant heckling and shouting culminated in an arrest Tuesday night during a speech by Ann Coulter, an extreme right-wing pundit, at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.

Shouts became so pervasive during the question-and-answer session that Coulter informed the organizers she would no longer take questions if the hecklers were not silenced. For a time, the shouts were considerably lessened, until the issue of gay marriage was broached.

Coulter said she supported the definition of marriage as between a man and a woman on the basis that a good woman civilizes and inspires a man to strive for something better, leading to a question that was met with a stunned silence.

"You say that you believe in the sanctity of marriage," said Ajai Raj, an English sophomore. "How do you feel about marriages where the man does nothing but **** his wife up the ass?"

UT Police officers approached Raj to arrest him, resulting in a mass exodus of protesters chanting, "Let him go."

"The person had been disruptive the entire event," said Matt Hardigree, former Student Events Center president. "He took the opportunity to say something lewd and offensive and then made masturbatory gestures as he exited."

I could hardly stand all the pinkos when I went to school there but I have to say that is a funny story regardless...

You can if you use profanity.

It is a "Michael Mooreism" when asking a question takes the place of a statement of fact.  Since Liberals don't operate in a normal universe with facts, figures, consequences, and results of your actions/decisions but live in a alternate dimension controlled by feelings and emotions; this was their equivalent of stating that they disagreed with her.

Yes, and for spelling errors too.  Show watch out.

God forbid you display any of your "Intollerance / Ignorance" by protesting any of the Left Leaning Sacred Cows...

Stand up and heckle a Clinton Cronie or any of the Pink-O Politicos and you would be in danger of assault by the "peaceful protesters"

What a bunch of two faced piss ants!!  We want to have a "Free and Open Discussion of Important Matters" but we will act like children and shout and tantrum unless you spout our party line!

Makes me remember why I hated part of U.T. so much (but then Round Up and Drunk Co-Eds remind me why I LOVED U.T. So Much!!!)

I don't know about that.  Back when I was at UT and Ann Richards was running against GWB, the UT conservatives did a pretty damn good job of disrupting her talk, and to the best of my knowledge nothing came of it.

Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas...

I miss Austin.

My UT experience was AWESOME....

Now - Plano.....   :-}

I used to go to the little CHINESE Food Stand - vender between classes - pay $150 for Lemonade, fried rice, and an eggrole and sit for an hour and watch the FREAKS.
I had to keep an eye out though- those damn MUTANT Squirrels would take your food in a heart beat...
I LOVE AUSTIN.

Wish I still lived there.
- Lots of freaks to stare at..
