I went into Adventure Sports today to get a signed copy of their FFL so I could have a receiver shipped to them. They have charged $35 in the past for transfers, which is a bit high, but being a great place with great guys, I was willing to pay it. I found out today that they have upped their fee to $50 for transfers! Holy crap! The receiver I am getting is $49.95, and I refuse to double the price with just a transfer fee. $50 is just way too much! Anyone notice fees going up at any of the other gun stores?

I know Ben's Loans has low fees, but I would rather not make the trek to Renton. Who do y'all use for transfers in Seattle or the Bellevue/Issaquah area?

$50 is crazy! I've used Adventure Sports before too, and I go there for powder all of the time.

I'd say make the trip to Bens, and stop off at Frys while you there.

On edit maybe give Lynnwood Guns(425) 774-8441) or Cascade Pawn(425) 787-8600 a call and Guntown too (425) 672-1849?

Look here too

Is Guntown still there? I thought they folded.

Renton isn't much more a "trek" than Issaquah. Actually, Ben's is fairly convenient from 405. I haven't had a chance to do any transfers other than through Ben's, so I can't really say who else is good.

It seems to me that some gun shops are starting to look at the internet as "real competition" to their inflated prices. If they raise their transfer fee to $50, then internet guns aren't a good deal anymore ($50 transfer, shipping.) Sad they react to competition in this manner. But, they are businessmen (mostly without any business sense) and need to survive.

I live in Seattle, but work in Bellevue. My reasoning for wanting a FFL in one of those places, is that I could easily pick up the receiver after work. My weekends usually leave very little free time, so something close is always much easier.

Can highly recommend Bill. He has provided me with several FFL transfers and has held firearms over periods pending paperwork/licensing. Great prices. Very close for Issaquah.

I second that Bill at Eastvalley Pawn in Carnation is a good guy. He'll send the FFL and call you when your package arrives. He did 2 transfers from EagleFirearms for me and it was smooth.

I have worked with him before, and he is a good guy, he has been LITTLE high on some of his firearms but most of the time can be work'd down to a respectable level.

always gone through Bens in Renton, driving from Sammamish/Redmond....

20 per FFL transfer

Link Posted: 9/3/2004 2:40:39 PM EST
After finding out that Ben's is open on Sundays, I decided that I'll shoot down there and have them do the transfer.

I know the rules: leave credit card at home, and take only the cash I need.

Wades charges $35 I do believe.
you can also contact Frank at discountgunsales.com. He has a new store in Kirkland, across from the Lucky 7 Tavern, next to Tool Town.. He has charged me $20 in the recent past.

Go to his web site for the phone number.

The Marksman in Puyallup charges $30 plus tax so about $32.

I'm thinking about getting my own FFL and charging $15 or so to do transfers. I'll be located in the Sumner/ Bonney Lake area, but also work in Seattle, so I'll have a wide reach to help my fellow gun nuts. Plus it will allow me to purchase items / firearms at dealer cost and pass on the savings. This will be a hobby sort of thing so I won't have any overhead to pay for.

Just got to get the large safe and meet whatever requirements are needed.
