So after 9+ years in the Marine Corps, I have changed branches
I am now officially a Sgt in the U.S. Army Reserves.

My MOS is 37F Psychological Operations Specialist
It is going to take some time getting used to being a Soldier and not a Marine
Hopefully I'll look like this 37F when I got down range

Guess I need to change my title from US Marine to something else.

Once a jarhead....always a jarhead...............from a old beat up army guy..........welcome to the army......you'll do well as the Army and the Corps share a significant amount of the same insanity..........

The MOS looks very interesting. Good luck in your new role!

Congrats on the upward move. Now go to Jump School and be an Airborne Psychological Operations Specialist.

I earned my jump wings back in 91
I have wings that were older than some of the Marines in my old unit.
Once I get my refresher training signed off by one of the jumpmasters, I'll be back on jump status.

We get paid to "Persuade, Change and Influence"
Screwing with people's minds, we do that for free.

Keep us informed, I always like to hear the reports of Marines moving to the Army. Most I know dont like it. Nothing against the army, They just say that it is a whole different kind of military. But the ones that like it, seem to really like it.

Either way, your still a Marine. A title that can never be taken away. And good luck on your future endeavors.

As he put it last night the princess of paranoia is now married to a psyops guy...that'll really mess with my head.

If you were at least a Sgt in the Corps, the Army oughta make ya a BrigGen at least!
Link Posted: 11/21/2012 11:02:16 AM EST
Welcome to the 5th Marine Division!

*The Army's reserve forces, particularly the National Guard, are called the "5th Marine Division" for a reason. Hell, half of my platoon (all of my squad leaders and most of my team leaders) are Marines that decided to cross over.

You are Title 10 whereas I am Title 32, but if you need any help navigating the officer side of the house, I will certainly try to help. I made the jump in 2008.

I can guarantee you the story would have a different ending.

Anyone know where the second picture was taken? I think if I was a 4 star general, I would have found a better place to pose with my mistress, than in front of an American flag, covered up by someone elses flag.

Congrats on the best decision you have ever made. As far as USAR goes Psyops and Civ Affairs tend to have high speed units. The Civ affair units I worked with had quite a few SF and Ranger tabs.

It looks it was take in July of 2011 at some HQ during Petraeus's time in Afghanstan as the HMFIC of ISAF
I believe it appropriate "flag code" to have the host flag nation on the right

LOL, that is pretty funny.
I am going to work hard at not being the jackass prior service Marine types that I ran into when I worked with the Army in Afghanistan.
10 minutes after meeting the dude and hearing "Marine Corps" stories, I was ready to strangle him. I can only imagine how bad it was for his fellow Soldiers

I am pretty excited about it being an Airborne unit.
However at 44, I am little too old to go Ranger school

The USNR direct commission program is losing out, but good luck with USAR!

Is your PSYOP unit in GA or SC? When 11th SFG closed in GA, several of our NCOs went to the USAR unit in SC to stay on jump status.

MISO is what Psy Ops is called on the AD side. Maybe I should email CSM Mabus for some pointers on Ranger school for those over 40.

Thanks for the kinds words. I was disappointed the USNR didn't work out but this whole process has taught me the value of patience and persistence.

From what I have been told it is pretty heavy on the AD side still but the USAR folks are helping out.
I am hoping to get MOSQ early next year and deploying soon after that.
I can only really learn and do my job down range.
