Then I guess we will have at least two BM Varminters there because I will be bringing mine as well.  It's my favorite Koko Head gun because it can hit the small gongs all day without even trying.

Koko Head Shooting Complex (www.khsc.info/) website doesn't say anything about it.

went to the range today and they have a sign up on one of the bulletin boards.  the rifle and pistol ranges will be closed from march 15-30.  only during the weekdays though.  they'll still be open saturday and sunday which is probably when you guys plan to go anyways.

they are going to be building/digging an archery range (first area on the right as you come into the range).  they are closing the rifle and pistol sides at that time cause they will be applying more dirt (coming out of the archery side) onto the backstops for rifle and pistol.

Shot the top layer of rounds at the small steel plate (200m?), can hit it with boring repitition using the aimpoint, couldnt see the 450m gong due to overcast but wanted to see if the 55 gr would reach that far and still make a audible report.  I think I need a ACOG.

it depends on who's shooting next to you and what they're shooting.  sometimes i don't hear the hits but i know i hit it.  i should be getting my spotting scope nlt next week.  it will be much easier than using my other rifle from the same bench to spot.

Looking for a good deal on a TA01NSN right now.

You can hit the gong at 460 all day with 55s and hear the impact, but even with a good spotting scope, you will be hard pressed to see the gong moving at all.  55 grains just don't get it swinging very much...

I rarely see the hits anyways (bad eyes) unless its one of the old guys with a 45-70 or other old school lead slug splattering on impact.  I just wanna hit and hear it.

nf9648,

I think we should work a deal on those red 10 round ammo holders.  I'm thinking of setting up another ammo can the same way.

I got some stripper clips to trade if your interested.

I actually started filling them back up, this time around the brass has 77 gr. SMKs.  You dont know where I can get more of the red things, do you?  Ive got two more cans I want to fill in the same manner myself.

nf9648,

I found a easy way to ship the ammo when we move.  So, I'm not selling any more.

As for the red things, I really don't know.  I always heard that you could fit 7 (120 round) bandoleers in a 50 cal can.  I guess I will find out.  Have you ever used the 308 stripper clips to store your ammo for the M1A?  That's how I store it for my AR10.

I'm still set for shooting on the 25th.  I will bring some of the toy along to play with if any of want to try different AR setups or even the AR10.

When we draw M855 it comes in the 120 round bandoleers, I do believe there are 7 of them, it totals out to 840 per can (I usually draw 10k rounds for a range to support 80-100 firers.)  I dont have any ammo storage setup at all in .308 due to the move from Texas, but I will be loading up around 1k-1.5k pieces of brass with the 175 gr. SMKs as soon as I build a new reloading bench.

What do you do with the Stripper Clips and Bandoleers after ammo is removed?

Yea, I would be intrested in them.

The only thig I turn back in is the brass and the ammo cans, the rest is usually tossed.  Ill talk to my battalion ammo guy when we have our next M16 range and see if I can grab it before it meets the dumpster.

I got a new .22 to try out on the 25th as long as my sights get here.  I was looking at a anschutz 1451 sporter target at young guns a couple months ago, while in the store today I just so happened to have my paperwork with me.  I ended up walking out with it for $500 and ordered some nice irons for it as soon as I got home.

As long as there isn't a lot of shooting going on you can hear a hit on the 440m gong. It can be pretty tricky to hit with an ACOG because of low magnification and wind. I use the BDC on my TA01NSN with XM193 55 gr.

I will bring the BushMaster Varminter and an AR10.  In all likelihood we will shoot the 10/22 the most.  My daughter tends to do most of the shooting anymore at the range and she likes the 10/22.

I will try to set up one of these shoots to focus on AR's.  Knowing your POI-POA relationship from 5 to 25 feet is interesting to know.  Maybe do some snap and barricade drills.... I will discuss it with the other instructors to schedule it in.
