As the title says, the wife and i are thinking of moving somewhere new, hoping to start a new chapter in our lives, with our 2 young boys. Where and why would you move there? We are thinking southern Oregon, where my wife has family out there so we won't be completely alone.

Thanks

AZ or OR for me. Both states are pretty libertarian and I have really good friends deeply involved in state politics in OR.

Utah or Northern Arizona.

Anywhere west of the Mississippi. Just remember to stop before you get to the coastal states.

ETA: I would look at the "hill country" of Texas.

D. King seems pleased since relocating to Alaska.

Alaska or Wisconsin.

You are going to love OR. Nothing like the Pacific ocean. You can go most anywhere and shoot freely. The whole West US is like that really since there is a ton more open space than here in the East. In fact there are what we called Ghost Towns all through that area which make fun shooting trips. Pinot Noir heaven. Herb is practically free since it grows all over up there. Trees that make ours look like weeds. Big fkn trees. Big fkn mountains. Rain. Sometimes forever. Good hunting grounds.

The down side is you are years away from any decent airport, the job market there sucks unless you are a brewmaster and libtards outnumber you 10 - 1.

YMMV

Kentucky, Texas, or maybe North Carolina.

Depends on what kind of life your looking for.

I'd find a state with the fewest number of DemocRATs in its population. Better schools; no crime, etc., etc.

Greenville, TN is very up and coming. My brother in law moved there a year ago and it has been wonderful for his family. Lots of parks, plenty of culture and things to do, and a small town feel in a large city. Schools are great in the suburbs, and you can get to the mountains in no time.

TX Houston or Austin you will be amazed

Before moving to the Great State of Georgia, we looked at Idaho. A bunch of scary white folks up there. Utah is filled with U-Tards.

Texas interests me. Oregon and Washington have too many Pot Smoking Hippies.

My company is based in Seattle which has the same weather as Oregon. It is cloudy, drizzly, and gloomy 8 months of the year. Highest suicide rates in the country. The summers there are amazing but the rest of the year sucks.

Can you clarify on those two points? What group is a 'bunch of scary white folks' and what's a 'U-Tard'? I may not be up on some lingo here.

Edit to ad: If the definitions aren't public board appropriate, PM is fine. Just curious.

I would move to Florida. Sorry but I just love saltwater fishing. It is one of my favorite things to do, and nothing beats fishing the southern Atlantic coast for snook.

Alaska... secluded, sparsely populated, cold, not land locked

Anywhere away from the southeast. Austin, Tx is nice. I lived in Omaha, NE for a few years. The economy usually does pretty good there.

I would like to know also....I'm sure I would be classified as scary white folks to some.

Oregon is a blue state... I'd vote for Wyoming. It's full of a bunch of scary white folks.... people who are prepared for bad weather, hard times, or whatever else may come. That's scary to the current administration and his cadre of dependence voters.
A buddy moved to Cody, WY 3 years ago. He loves it.

I'm pretty ok with scary white people.

So I fail to see the problem?

At the amount of weird hippy liberals? Yes someone who has never been to either would be amazed.

If you're thinking Texas: Dallas, north of Dallas, stay away from west Fort Worth, Hill Country is beautiful/cheap/ and open- see north and nort west of San Antonio along I10. I have a few jobs to consider in SA and I'd move there

Arizona is great too. Just don't know anything about the job market for civilians. I love going down to then Sonora Desert near Sierra Vista and the border. Tucson is a fun town

I'm going to North Georgia. Mountains, streams, woods, nice climate, no earthquakes.

ExKali is a scary white dude. He also has the most bad-ass scary range trolley and some seriously scary boom sticks.

SW Idaho, possibly NW Idaho. I'v got family in owyhee county and know the area pretty well. With a total state population of 1.5mil, I'v got twice that many people around me in a 50 mile radius. Seclusion, "public" land, and sweet MountainBiking areas.
