The number of counties that are stepping up and doing the right thing continues to rise, and it is getting to the point that it is difficult to keep track of. Below are some details for each of the counties that have passed resolutions opposing the SAFE act, as well as those that are working on it. These counties deserve our thanks and recognition, and as this trend continues to grow, so does the strength of our message to Albany.
This is a work in progress. Feel free to add to it or let me know if I am getting any of the details wrong. Ulster has passed out of committee.
Full vote is on 2/19 Looks like we have the votes to pass the full legislature, but will be keeping the pressure up. My understanding is that these memorializing resolutions do nothing other than let it be known that the county is unhappy with the law. FUAC |

I doubt you will hear anything from my communist ultra left county of Onondaga...

Who do we pressure to get one of these passed in our county? I'd like to see Broome added to this list. I'm unsure what the local political climate is like towards this bill but I want to try.

Your county legislator. Look on your county webpage. Around here they list home and cell numbers as well as email. The hudson valley sportsmens federation deserves credit for organizing, getting the ear of one legislator an getting the resolution drafted. You could print out the UC resolution, take it to your legislator and ask "why are you not doing something like this?" Even if the gun argument falls on deaf ears, passing laws in the middle of the night with the intent of avoiding public scrutiny and input should be something evry American should be against. At the county level, your voice pulls much more weight, as the number of constituents is less. Our reps actually answer emails and calls as opposed to our senators and ASSemblyman. Who cares if it falls on deaf ears? Doing nothing will get the predicted result every time. |

I see little downside to a growing portion of the state telling Cuomo that they officially oppose his unconstitutional garbage.
Sure, he may not care, but... 1. It looks bad for him 2. It may be useful during the legal challenges 3. It improves morale for our side. |

Call them and tell them they are wrong! ETA: Right after the CT tragity one of our county legislators from Woodstock submitted a resolution begging Obama for relief from the gun plauge. A stout "no way" from the people at the first meeting got the resolution pulled by the author, and weeks later we have the new pro 2A resolution. Imagine if we had done nothing. |

Update 2/14/13 the county will caucus this Sat and bring it to the full legislature on Tuesday
From what I heard today, I wouldn't hold my breath. The sheriff feels the Safe Act has some good points. Quoted:

Added a few more counties in the OP. I'm trying to research and add to the list as time allows.
I knew there was a lot of opposition to this law, but holy crap! I'm finding even more as I search for info. |

Awesome - thanks P400, Murray, and the rest of you guys.
Good to see this one place. The map is cool - those are legislature-based oppositions? We should also organize Sheriffs, courts, supervisor's/executive's statements, etc. |

Now 21, by your revised count! How much sway do the counties have in Albany? I don't know, but I think some of these resolutions are going unnoticed because they are getting no press coverage. I just found this resolution for Hamilton County. Look at resolution 3 on page 12. I can't find a single news report on this. The only reason I even looked at Hamilton County was because it borders other counties that have passed resolutions. |

Add Delaware County to the list. They are going to have the resolution ready by Feb 27th. Unsure what date it will be voted on though.
