Thanks,

Matt.

There's a map and directions in a pinned thread up top. And this place is nothing new. I was there about 9 or 10 years ago, and it'd been used for years at that point. Still, if people bitch enough, they may succeed in getting it posted....

I'm confused when people say the pit may be shut down or posted.  Wouldn't state law have to be changed for that to happen?  The pit is state land afterall and has a suitable backstop for shooting.  Am I missing something?

What the Pit really needs is a large street sweeper (not the gun) and just "sweep" all the trash into one spot. It will be a heck of a dust storm but it should work. Then it'd be easier to shovel the crap into a large dumpster. The only problem is renting the sweeper and dumpster several times a year.

I was there Sat and it looked pretty decent. There was a fair amount of snow so I can't say for sure but it did not look horrible like it sometimes does.
Come the end of March I am sure we will get a clean up scheduled. I am leaning more for after Knob Creek, which is April 7-9, so I can try out anything I may have picked up there but the first clean up of the year has historiclly been the last Sat in March so this year that would be the 25th. We could also postpone it a week and go on the 1st of April but as I say that is running dangerously close to Knob Creek and I don't know if I can swing back to back shooting weekends. Guess we will play it by ear and see what mother nature does to help the situation.

is the pit  just state land that is open to the public year round to go shoot at ? or is it just designated land that holds mg shoots once in awhile?

State land, open to anyone.

Follow the link to a map, you can find I75, I94 or I69 I assume.
