Attention all WI HTF members. I have the visual proof of the so called $250 mosin nagant. A little back story first. This morning I met up with my friend Flamethrower. We went to the Waukesha gun show with the intention of finding a few things. One of those things being the famed $250 mosin nagant. Upon our arrival we entered the building and were met with the all to familliar stench of gun show funk. Most of that funk throughout the day came from Flamethrower. We found the Mosin Nagant table and proceeded to plot out our plan of attack. Which mainly consisted of Flamethrower wussing out and telling me to ask the questions. So here is the brunt of the conversation. We will call the seller "Douchey McStupidPants" Me: Hi, I have a question. What makes this mosin nagant different than the ones for $90 everywhere else DMc: Well, there are no more coming in. This one is an un-issued M44. Me: What do you mean there are no more? DMc: There are no more being imported what ever is out there is the last of them unless someone finds a lost crate somewhere Flame: DMc: Over the last few years they have been going up in price. About $100 every year. Me: Me: Oh I never noticed I havent looked at prices for quite some time. DMc: Yeah, what ever is out there is the last of them. You might see a surplus of them and the prices come down for a bit but the prices will go right back up once they are gone. Me: Flame: Me: OK thanks for your time So that was the basic conversation. The funny thing is that in May of 2009 I bought a M44 from a garage sale locally. I went to the next Waukesha gun show after that. I sold that M44 to this guy for $80. The reason this stands out is because he was bitching at me about him being able to get it cheaper from a wholesale place. He did cave in and pay the price. I looked at the rest of his nagants and even back then he was over priced. They were all about $140-$170. When I saw that I took out a pen and wrote on the back of one of his tags "Do not buy this, it is over priced" I later saw that he had my nagant up there for $120 or so. I guess he lives in his own world. Last but not least. The pics. http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq204/dieterbass2/IMAG0121.jpg http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq204/dieterbass2/IMAG0122.jpg The guy is about 6 foot tall has short grey hair in a crew cut type style and has a short grey moustache. His table is in the middle of the first room closest to the entrance. Oh and next to the M44 was an un-issued M38 for $225. We also went over to the M&A table and I played some sound board clips of Darth Vader. Mostly his breathing and a few things like "what is thy bidding my Master" It sent Flamethrower into a laughing fit to where he had to walk away. I saw this shirt too. http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq204/dieterbass2/IMAG0123.jpg I didnt wuss out. I used my Jedi mind powers on you. Oh, and you were smelling yourself. |

Thanks for the report guys. There is now photographic proof that we don't need to close the so-called 'gunshow loophole.' This should be front page MJS with an explanatory paragraph. That's probably the exact same MN that I saw there about 3 years ago... although to be fair, I think they have come DOWN in price on their MN stock. I recall a $445 MN with a mismatched bolt, a Finnish m39. I politely asked them if I was reading the tag correctly (it had a lot of pen marks and scratching) and got a rather gruff, 'yeah, why?' Then I switched gears and just replied that I wanted to make sure they were being serious. Ah the Bob and Rocco show... by my count, there are... what... maybe 3-6 tables worth going to for actual purchasing and another couple just to look at for interesting value. |

"When I saw that I took out a pen and wrote on the back of one of his tags "Do not buy this, it is over priced"
IF you really did that then you sir are a true asshole! So what if the guy is overpriced on his guns? If you don't like it then don't buy one from him, pretty simple! he puts a price on his items and if someone thinks they are to high then they don't have to buy it. To deface his price tag was wrong on so many levels. The guy should have taken his rifle and clubbed you over the head with it. |

I looked over that table too. The M38 caught my interest as it was a 1944 Izhevsk - not the rarest, but most are 43's you see. The price was too high for me. I did pick up a very nice, matching ( not common) Romanian M44 for 125 OTD Friday night. Yeah, I have a soft spot for Mosins.

Shit, I did those aisles at least three times (painful in the morning) and didn't see that.
I was trying to work a deal on the Saiga 12 from Heineken Santa but it wasn't to be had. Without buying a drum anyway. ETA –– I had to try a test run, walked past M&A –– he said hi all by himself. Could've shit myself. |

In other news...
I guess we just figured out through this thread that "Douchey McStupidPants" selling the $250 Mosin is an arfcommer? Welcome. Guess you pissed him off writing on his tag and all. On second thought –– it was wrong of you. With the gun worth $250, that paper tag has to be worth at least $30, $50 if attached with string and $75 if it was the "original" string from OfficeMax. Of course, that was before the you "defaced" it. |

I got a feeling it was reelmans table in question! OK, you beat me to it. But not really because I was editing that post for over five minutes. |

No it was not my table, I haven't done shows in a couple years but I do remember enough to know that there is certain etiquette that one does at shows and messing with someone'd guns is a major no no.
Every show I ever went to there were a couple guns that were way over priced but I never felt the need to confront the person or write something on their price tag. |

Damn, I go on vacation for a day and miss this epic thread...
