OK NY/NJ members:
Who is going to the Valley Forge gun show? www.valleyforgegunshow.com/ December 17-18, Valley Forge Convention Center, Valley Forge PA. This is *by far* the best show in the area and worth 10 Middletown shows combined. I'm in. Are you? |
Probably heading there on Sunday with FMJ.
Need some 193 and gun porn to look at. eta-spelling |
I'll probably make an appearance, but money is extremely tight so I probably won't be buying anything (the last 2 times I said that I bought a $1500 rifle and a $350 light/laser).
FMJunkie, if you're going to be there sunday could you bring my digital camera that I left at the last NJ BLAST? |
i think i will be there sunday also
what time are you guys going to be there |
whats a good way to get there from NJ TurnPike
i cant find an address to mapquest this |
Exit 6 on NJ Turnpike to PA turnpike to Valley Forge exit. It's very close to the PA turnpike.
Im going to try to make it on sunday as well. Probably on the early side. When does it open 9 or so?
Yes, 9:00 AM |
I'm headed to the Harrisburg show tomorrow (12/10). Time to look at how the other half lives.
I was just thinking of you and your camera! Yes, I will have it with me on Sunday. |
What are you so confused about? You're driving |
im thinking about going...Any idea about how far from LI ?
Joezeta |
I used to drive to Indiantown Gap, 30 miles east of Harrisburg in under 3 hours. I think H-berg is about 180 miles away from me in SE Nassau. Taking I-78 has you going past Cabelas in Hamburg PA, about an hour short of Harrisburg and a nice stop if you have never been there, going either way. Decent restaurant, great animal displays, aquarium, etc.

I'll be there on Sunday with a couple of friends (acquaintences) from CJRP.
Looking forward to going, havent been since the spring. B_S |
I'm also going to try to make it up there on Sunday.
How/when/where are we going to try to find each other? Brian |
How about 11:30 in the lobby by the exit? Maybe a bunch of us can grab lunch at one of the places up the road.
FOOD!!! Count me in. |
What time are most of you getting there? I'm assuming that the 1130 meet up is when everyone is leaving for lunch.
Yeah, 11:30 would be the departure time. I'll probably be there by 9:30.
I'm only leaving in a few minutes myself...I won't be there till damn near 10:45
I was there from about 1120 to 1140 in the lobby by the exit and didn't see anyone (that I recognized).
DAMN. We needed to where signs. I guess it was about noon before the meet. Somebody I know HAD to buy a firearm at the last minute. |
I saw M1-Matt and someone else (sorry, I don't remember the other guy ). I didn't make the lunch meeting because I was still looking around. I ended up buying a Tula Russian SKS.
I was in the lobby from about 11:40 until almost 12:00. We must have walked right by each other...
I got a little held up buying a new pistol! M1 Matt, PK90, DWFAN, me and an off-board friend all went to Chili's for lunch after that. Saw Slidestop, he couldn't make lunch, though. I ended up buying a new Springfield XD40 Tactical with 2 Hi-cap mags for $449. Pretty nice pistol, can't wait to try it out! |
I new we should have bought thoes Czech parachute flares. |
I had a great time at my FIRST gun show. I spent a hell of a lot more $$$ than I had planned on. I also spent about 15min in my car de-linking the belted ammo that I bought.
Nice choice. I bought an XD40 Service after I tried my friends XD40 Sub-compact. A few months later my father bought an XD40 Tactical. I just bought (at a previous gunshow) a Laser Devices Inc. BLAST 2 last/light combo and I can't wait to get it sighted in. This time all I bought was a case of .308 to put through my M1A. |
What did the case of .308 run you and what was the country of origin? |
Great show as usual!! Bought lots of AK mags, 8lbs. of Varget powder, primers, ammo, bayonets, T-shirts & knives. Damn I love PA gun shows!!!!!
So what else did you buy? When I saw you all you had bought was two M1 multi-tools and a few spare parts or something . I wanted to buy an AK, but I didn't know which ones were NJ legal and didn't feel like going table to table asking if the ones they were selling were. Oh well, I'm happy with my Russian SKS . |
How much was the Russian SKS? Hmm here is a list of what I bought Charging handel for my 1919 240 rds of FN Tracer Eagle AIII Molle Pack (hey I got tired of carring around the ammo) 1 pr Gunner Grips for my Wilson 50rds of Black Hills 5.56 77gr OTM M13 Tool roll 1 M1 Garand but stock cleaning kit 2 3006 ratchet type chamber brushes 1 Bandoleer of M2 AP in M1 clips |
I got a nice M1. I was glad to have a couple of friends from this board there to guide me in the right direction.
All SA parts, good wood, and made in Dec 41. I was contemplating going through the CMP, but had rather spend the extra money and actually see what I'm buying without driving to Port Clinton. I won't single out the guys that helped; you know who you are, thanks again! B_S Edit cuz I kant type er spell. |
I saw South African going for $200.00 for 1,260 rds. from two different dealers. |
The SKS was $260 + tax (originally $295 but I managed to bargain them down). It's a 1950 Tula (rebuild, of course!), and has the wood laminate stock (in fairly good condition, too). A number of the parts appear to be original and early, with the bolt, bolt carrier, rear sight, and a few other parts being the rearsenaled bits, and all serial numbers matching (and the arsenal rebuild bits being EP'd in the appropriate places). Overall it's not bad, and the price was about in line with what I expected to pay for a Russian. Luckily I knew a little about what I was looking for, because otherwise I might have listened to all the lines the guys selling it were throwing out. It's dirty as all hell inside, but I have it mostly all cleaned up nice now. Bore was a bit dirty, but after cleaning looks nice and sharp/shiny . It was definitely culture shock being at that gun show. I really could get used to that ...Man, every day I wish I lived in PA more and more...There were lots of modern handguns that I was fawning over, too... |

DWFAN gets the prize. I've shot it in the past, it's pretty decent. It makes great range ammo. |

What did I win |
Nothing and you are going to like it too. |

If I NO get a prize now I say F' You Jobu |
