I've had many inquiries into when the next rifle match was going to be held, so if there's enough interest, we're going to have a "Show Off Your New Toys" after Christmas match.  The match will be scheduled for Saturday, December 31.  The match will be hosted by the Carolina Star.  Registration will be at 0830, with a safety briefing at 0845, and shooting to begin at 0900.  We're still playing around with the COF, but we promise to have you home in time for the New Year's festivities.

Stay tuned for more information.....

I haven't seen you shoot a match with the same gun yet, so it's all new to us.

There is no membership, just a $17 fee to cover use of the range and targets.

Russel,
Are we still on for this match?

Thanks. Brian

The match is a go.  It looks like we may have a little more interest in this match than I originally anticipated.  That's a good thing.....I'm feeling particularly evil now that Christmas is over.

I'm looking at three to four COF's with a minimum round count of around sixty.  You can expect point blank to medium distances, with SEVERE changes in pace.

How much different is this from IPSC 3-gun?

(IPSC 3-gun) - (shotgun) - (pistol) + (IDPA targets / scenarios) = Tactical Rifle

We take the rifle element of IPSC 3-gun, and add a few twists.

Just a reminder that the Tactical Rifle Match is tomorrow morning at the Carolina Star.  Registration will begin at 0830, with a safety briefing at 0845, and shooting to begin PROMPTLY at 0900.  The match fee is $17, and our standard rules apply:

1) One gun - One optic : You must shoot the same rifle, in the same configuration thoughout the entire match.  Gun failures will be handled at the descretion of the match director.

2) ABSOLUTELY NO STEEL CORE OR AP AMMUNITION!!!  If it's even questionable, don't bring it.  We shoot steel in our matches and rounds that would damage the steel are both dangerous and expensive.

We're going to try and work in four COF's for this match, with targets from contact to 100 yards.  The minimum round count for the match is 60.  we'll have guns and gear available for those that need them.  We ask that you bring new, commercial .223 ammunition for use in these weapons.

Hope to see you there!

Another great match. Really enjoyed it. Still have a cramp in my trigger finger from the 100 yard stage but the barrel finally cooled down late last night.

It was good to see you again j3.  Glad you enjoyed yourself.  Way to stay in the fight on the 100 yard stage!  Make sure you take it easy on that trigger finger for the next couple of days.  Sure hope it isn't the one you use for your TV remote
