*We have our first raffle prize! Magpul has been gracious enough to allow us to give away our pre-production CTR stock sample, complete with Buttpad. This is over a $100 value! *Vltor has graciously donated 2 of their new design Single Point Sling End Plates! ($40 value) *FREE Tac Shack T-Shirts for all participants! ($12 value) *Troy Industries is donating 4 slings and 2 of the Newly Designed Troy T-shirts! *Raffle Details: Any coupon bearing customer that spends $50 in the store at the event will receive 1 free Raffle Ticket (additional tickets available for every $50 spent). We will pick tickets for specific prizes at the end of the event- anyone not present will have their prizes shipped to them. *SPECIAL GUEST OF HONOR, MR. KEG WILL BE PRESENT* *STAG Arms has donated a foldable outdoor chair! (You would normally only get these babies by purchasing a STAG Rifle). *VLTOR has just confirmed that they are donating one of their HOT new MUR-1A upper receivers (Modular Upper Receiver with Bolt Assist/Shell Deflector)- these are dimensionally more accurate than many other uppers on the market today, and have increased wall thickness to minimize flexing from vertical foregrips and accessories. They are VERY hard to come by, and are valued at $229.95!!! *LaRue Tactical is throwing in some Armadillo Bottle Openers ($10 Value) for a lucky few with their shipment going out today- we'll have this stuff in before Saturday! (PLEASE READ) Attendee Information: Folks, this is a marketing event for our store, so obviously we would like a lot of attendance. At the same time, this is an exclusive event for you guys, and our floor space is limited, so we dont want to compromise your experience at the expense of anyone else for whom this event was not planned. The "closed" sign will be hanging, and the door will be open only to arfcom'ers with coupons. You can bring up to 2 friends who may not be members (delightfully tacky yet unrefined ladies specifically exempt). If you want to bring more friends, THE WAY AROUND THIS IS SIMPLE- have all your friends and their brothers register as AR15.com members and just reply to the thread! This way you support AR15.com, and they all get discount coupons to the event! The only other folks you will see here on Saturday might be some friends from West Point community that helped to build our store- there will be a few here early in the day that will be able to answer any questions you guys may have about USMA. Last notes- We do have security concerns here, with our large inventory that includes LEO-only items, so please do not wander in the back, and please dont take pictures inside the store. Please dont take/post any pics of Tac Shack staff- I am as private as I am ugly, and I politely ask that our privacy is respected. We will be serving free beer, so drink responsibly. Big Boy Rules Apply. Anyone underage who is drinking on our property will not be invited back. If this goes well, and everyone has a good time, we will look at making this a recurring event with possible range time & a full-auto shoot element in the future. See you on Saturday! ******************************************** Dear NY/NJ ARFCOM-ers, We would like to invite you to an exclusive sale on Saturday, August 12, from 11AM to 6PM at our retail location (“Tac Shack”) in Highland Falls, NY- just outside the main gate of West Point. Any ARFCOM member who replies to this thread will receive an IM/Email coupon for a 10% discount on all in-store merchandise, and a 20% discount on any single 5.11 Tactical product for this 1-day sale. The store will only be open to ARFCOM members that day, as we are normally closed on weekends until September. For a better picture of some of the product lines we carry, please click on the orange “SKD” logo right under the banner ads above. The Tac Shack is not a gunshop, but you’ll be hard pressed to find as many high-quality AR15/M4 accessories and other tactical products amassed in a single location anywhere in the northeast. You provide the rifle or lower receiver, and we can pimp it out from there. If you want to bring your rifle with you, please IM/Email us first. For directions to the Tac Shack, please visit www.thetacshack.com. Anyone interested in military history should plan on visiting the West Point Museum- a must see collection of militaria- their hours are 10:30AM - 4:15PM on the day of this event, and it is within walking distance of the Tac Shack. We plan on raffling off a few prizes for folks who take advantage of their coupons- details will follow. Hope to see you then! Joe @ SKD Tactical, Inc. |

Very interesting, I'll have to see if I could make it. |
I'll be in Seattle for a few days on business starting that day...
Sounds like a great day trip, thanks for 'opening' your doors on the weekend for us!
BBQ at West Point afterwards down by the Hudson? (I know a place or two) I'm sure I can make it with proper motivation! (FOOOOOOOD!)
Okay Boys, here's the scoop:
I had a little extra time on the drive from NY to Pa today, and Highland falls is only a few miles from the Bear Mountain Bridge, so I decided I'd drop by the store to see it and maybe buy Joe a cup of coffee. Well, turns out Joe wasn't in, so I spent 45 minutes or so wandering the store and chatting with his wife. Let me tell you, the selection is GREAT! Tons of stuff on display for The village of Highland Falls is pleasant, with a bar right next door to SKC and West Point is a stone's throw up the road. What do you guys think? It's quiet at the Point until the Class of 2010 arrives so motel rooms should be available, should we talk about an overnight with maybe a tour of the West Point museum? Whether we stay over or not you have GOT to attend this event. |
I propose we have a meeting time at West Point Museum. Everyone can stop by the Tac Shack first to shop. Those who are interested can also do BBQ or lunch arrangements.
Who wants to be coordinator for this? I can't do it because I may have to cancel due to work at the last minute. |
I'm definitely in, wife is checking her work schedule to see if she can come too.
Probably won't be an overnight for us as its only 2 hours away, but it'll would be great to see everyone again. |
I will bring steaks. Is this area you know of a public spot? Or do arangements have to be made in advance? |
Count me in .
I've been meaning to try and find your place since reading about it here . |
<Ahem> Notice the title under my avatar if you please... I am not 100% sure I can attend for the same reasons, but I can certainly do the planning and set-up. I hereby deputize Mag162 to act as Supernumerary Social Director and Grillmaster. |
Just remember West Point is a closed installaion.. I know this bc I work the gates there. So schedule ahead and maybe i can make the arrangements to get everyone on post.
Chris |
<sigh> Is this another fine reminder of 9-11? Damn, I remember being able to wander all over the place as a kid and young adult. |
Ok I will be putting together a list of those attending. please send me an I/M that says you are coming and what time you expect to arrive. We wanna set up a BBQ and some beverages so I need to know how many are coming. And somebody has to provide a BBQ, unless they are available there. I've never been there so I'm not sure if thre are cooking facilities. Maybe HKtackdriver would know? |
You were a kid when, during the Spanish/American or the Civil War? |
I believe they have some small grills already there. I'll check when I get to work. I would need a list of all attending and those people ALL, I say again all need to have a Drivers Lic. or Passport to gain entry into post. And make sure no-one has any firearms or ammunition in their cars as you will have your vehicle searched. That includes pistols even if you have a valid NYS CCW. Its a big NO-NO. That said I look foward to meeting everyone as I am new here.
Chris |
If I don't have to work, I'm in as well. Sounds like a good opportunity to meet each other.
im in provided theres not too much grief from my bettter half. and i definitely am looking for some stuff from skd
Please PM me with the coupon. Looking foward to drooling on your inventory.
Hey guys,
Just got back from out of town- Helldog, I'm sorry I missed you. I don't want to ruin your reputation on the boards, but the boss said that you were a "very nice person"- LOL. If you guys dont have another alternative, we can potentially offer the use of our "backyard"- I can arrange to have a 22" weber suddenly appear on 8/12... Unfortunately, there is no shade back there, and you wont want to try the 3 second rule to anything you drop on the ground. Second batch of coupons going out today- thanks! |
Joe we can get everyone on post down at south dock to BBQ there. AS long as You and me are there it will be no problem.
Chris |
You happen to know "fish" who has been there for years? Also another friend Chris Misiano who is a locksmith at West Point |
Sounds like a good deal, send me the coupon. Is the West Point Museum kid friendly? I think my two guys would like it.
Yes very kidfriendly. It something like 3 or 4 floors. so make sure they get a good nights sleep the night prior. they'll love it though
Mag162, Chris sounds familiar. But "fish" i dont think so.. I look foward to meeting everyone on sat though.
Folks,
Thanks for planning to make the event- we are looking forward to meeting with all of you. Just a heads up for those who are planning on bringing kids- they are more than welcome in the store with parents, but it is not necessarily a kid-friendly environment. The music we play caters to the alpha-male 18-35 demographic, and we have items in the store that sport 4 letter words. Heck, if we get a turnout of more than 30 folks, we may even have a keg on ice behind the counter. The Tac Shack exists for armed professionals and law-abiding gun owners, and we take the nature of the products we sell pretty seriously. The sign on the window specifically states no one under 18 without an adult, and that is to protect children from unsupervised exposure to certain products and language, and to ensure that our attention remains undivided for our adult customers. Again, kids are welcome with adult supervision, as long as you are OK with them being in an environment for adults. Thanks!! |
Thanks for the heads up on the kids. Kids vs. KEG tough choice |
I would love to come but have to work! Sounds like a good time.....
Looks Like Im going to try to make it, no guns or ammo in the vehicle is tough to take, I wanted to hit my range after I leave and its only 1/2 hour from west point, I guess I ll have to park and hike my way to the shop. is it too late to get a coupon ?
Thanks, Paul |
