So I heard through the grapevine that someone had a FN-49 "kit" to get rid of and I was thinking to myself "self, you have no old world autoloading battle rifles". I got on the horn and R-32 says sure I gots one, what have you to trade. I have an amd-65 kit with wood stocks says I. Deal says he and it was done.
Now a little back note on the amd kit. My brother sent it to me to cut down for a pistol build. I sent him back a pistol kit made from a romy g kit and told him it was a fair trade...he believed me. Total money spent on amd kit 85 dollars.
When I got the fn from bunny it had everything except a magazine. The stock was also broken. On the phone to Sarco I go to get a stock and mag assembly. The assclown order taker tells me they dont have any followers for the mag but he has the bodies and springs. So I go about looking for a follower and find one on ebay with a bar magazine and I bid on it. I got outbid and decided to snipe it. Underestimating the speed of my dialup connection my bid went awry and I lost the auction. I was pissed!
Today a box shows up from Sarco with my stock in it so I am giddy as a schoolboy!( as giddy as a schoolboy with roids can be) I pull the stock out and try to assemble it....it dont fit
IT DOESNT MFING FIT!!!!
I called Sarco back and they told me to pound sand because the stock is clearly marked non returnable. It was so I accept my shit luck. I got to looking at the broken stock and the new stock to see why the incompatibility and lo and behold the new stock has a recoil lug and the old one doesnt. Out comes the dremel and some chisels and I made the stock fit. You cant even tell from the outside. Except for the recoil lug holes that is. I will be cutting the lug down and supergluing the pieces into the hole so it looks right:)
Remember the lack of a follower? The magazine that came with the stock was complete. Follower and all. I am glad I didnt win that 45 dollar auction.
Total price to me for a working condition fn-49 in 30-06. Under 200 dollars.
THANKS R-32
