Friend is thinking about doing a seasonal job up there, since I work from home, I was thinking about tagging along... The is virtually no (current) firsthand info about the area.

From what I have gathered; It's a resort town, it's full of rich people, it's expensive as heck, and workers can't afford to live there. From probing around social media, etc, other than skiing and hiking, the place looks pretty damn boring to live or stay for any length of time, seems like everyone is drinking in every pic they post (other than skiing and hiking). Honestly, strikes me as a wealthy backwater.

I work in Big Sky but live in a nearby town.  Big Sky sucks.  They call it a town without a soul, and honestly that's pretty accurate.  There's a very tepid attempt at creating a sense of community that seems to fall short.

Most workers cannot afford to live in town, or find housing even with the money.  So that leaves just the mega rich and the somewhat middle management demographic of people who serve them.

There's very scenic vistas and hikes and stuff, but nothing that can't be found elsewhere.  There just isn't anything redeeming about Big Sky.

...Except that animals.  The privatization and californica-zation of the area has created a de facto wild life preserve across thousands of acres because the locals can't hunt and the "residents" don't either.

So sometimes you see a moose running down the main drag or foxes stealing lunches from contractors.

Check out Bozeman instead.

I have spent a couple of weeks over the years in Big Sky, it is not a place I would go back to if I had a choice...

Ouch, I'll pass that on to my friend, Thank You guys. I'm definitely not going lol, a girl I dated moved there and I don't want to run into her anyway. I think my friend just wanted a change of scenery for a few months, like I said, seasonal job.

Thank You again.

Just curious, why? PM if you don't want to say it in public.

Just not anything there, I have lived in Montana for almost 30 years now and views only go so far, it was just a blah little town, that rolled up the sidewalks at 6 PM every night, I have spent at least a night or two in most of the little towns in Montana and Big Sky sticks in my mind as one place I really don't want to go back to.

I am sure others have a different opinion, but that is my take on Big Sky.

That said, I don't live in a town, I live 20 miles from the closest town in my area, so I am really used to not having the amenities of a town.  Just was not anything there for me.
