Actually Im going to Cary, NC to look at a few homes and the area in general. I'm pretty tired of the rat race here in NY/NJ and want to see if I think we can make it down there. I'm hoping that my wife falls in love with the area, wish me luck!

Just wondering why did you pick North Carolina?

Seems like over the last 3 years lots of people from NY and NJ are moving down here.

CARY = Containment Area for Relocated Yankees

I can say that, being a former NY State resident.

We've lived in Cary for 11 years and enjoy it. There are also other nice areas around Raleigh to consider -- be sure to look at those too. Hopefully others can chime in here with their suggestions.

As far as gun laws, it's not perfect here, but it's a lot better than NY or NJ!

Seems like over the last 3 years lots of people from NY and NJ are moving down here.

I would say the #1 reason is real estate values. Even though property in NC has skyrocketed, on a percentage basis NC homes are still a great value compared to NY/NJ. Also NC is included in my wifes work district so she can transfer down there at the same pay rate.

Ill do anything I can for work. I'm very handy and a hard worker. Our home will only have a small mortage that my wifes job will cover in case I don't find something to do right away.

I'll let you know in a few weeks how we like the area.

I work in the seafood industry....I used to sell a lot of squid.

I guess that I could find work on the coast, I do know some suppliers in VA, NC and SC.

I used to do home improvements and Im pretty handy. Doors, windows, plumbing, electrical, tile, kitchens, baths...pretty much a jack of all trades. I would like to buy an apartment building or two for income and or investment. That is my main plan.
