Tactical 3-Gun Match
July 26 / 10:00 A.M.
(Attention Law Enforcement Officers. This 3-gun match is TCLEOSE credit for 8 hours)
Location: TIGER VALLEY Shooting Facility (L.T. Dillon) at Prairie Hill, Texas (15 miles east of Waco on HWY 84).
Time: Firing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Squad assignments and match briefing begin at 09:00 a.m.
Entry Fees: $35.00. (TIGER VALLEY members will receive a $5.00 discount)
Ammunition: Competitors must furnish their own ammunition. No tracers, steel core or armor piercing ammunition will be allowed. Ammunition not meeting this requirement will be removed from the firing line. A minimum 100 pistol rounds, 50 bird or buckshot, 10 slugs, 100 rifle rounds are recommended.
Targets: IDPA paper, Steel plates and pepper-poppers, other reactive targets. Distances to targets, range from 0 to 40 yards.
Course of Fire: 5 to 6 stages, consisting of rifle, pistol, shotgun, and combinations of all weapons. Competitors should be prepared to utilize basic tactical engagement principles; shooting from cover, tactical reloads, etc.
Scoring: Combination of shot placement (points) and time.
General: Competitors will be required to pull and tape/set targets and score. There will be no lunch break. Food and drinks are not available at the range. There are five RV hook-ups, showers, and restrooms available at the range. The fee is $15.00 per day.
Safety: All Safety rules at TIGER VALLEY Shooting Facility will be obeyed at all times. Slides or actions should remain open unless engaged in a course of fire or under the direction o a range officer or a competitor is in a designated safe area. Competitors will not be allowed on the firing line until directed by a range officer. Competitors will not be allowed to load ammunition into a weapon unless directed by a range officer **THIS IS A COLD RANGE**. Handling weapons behind the firing line is prohibited.
Tiger Valley 3-Gun Tactical Match Rules
Weapons
Limited Category – All weapons must be fitted with standard “iron sights”, scopes and other optics are not allowed. Compensators/muzzle brakes; max = 3 in. L x 1 in. DIA are allowed. Magazines may not extend more than 3inches below the weapon when inserted in a handgun, no magazine restriction for rifles, 9 round limit in shotgun.
Open Category – Weapons may be fitted with optics, such as magnification scopes, “red-dots”, etc. Compensators/muzzle brakes. No magazine restrictions for rifles or pistols, 11 round limit in shotgun.
Law Enforcement Division – The above 2 categories apply within the LE Only division.
Pistol – Minimum caliber 5.7mm, Maximum caliber .50AE, no steel core ammunition, magazines not to exceed 3 inches below the weapon, no multi-round burst or full-auto selection allowed, suppressors are allowed, Federal statutes
apply - documentation must be provided upon entry
Rifle – Minimum caliber 5.45mm, no steel core ammunition, compensators/muzzle brakes allowed, no multi-round burst or full-auto selection allowed, suppressors are allowed, Federal statutes apply - documentation must be provided upon entry
Shotgun – Minimum caliber 20 ga, no steel core ammunition, Federal statutes apply - documentation must be provided upon entry
Optics
Any optical device such as, scopes, “red-dots”, or other magnification or vision enhancing devices mounted on any weapon will categorize a competitor within the “Open Category”.
Targets
Paper – IDPA-style brown paper targets will require 2 penetrating rounds for scoring. One miss result in a 5-point penalty and the loss of the scored points.
Head zone – 5 points
Center Mass (circle at torso area) – “Alpha” 5 points
Outside of center mass (middle torso area) – “Charlie” 4 points
Extreme outside (torso area) “Delta” 3 points
All paper targets are deemed as impenetrable, and “pass-throughs” will not be counted as multiple scoring impacts.
“No shoot” – “No shoot” targets will be white “no shoot” will be assessed as a 10 point penalty per impact. All paper targets are deemed as impenetrable, and “pass-throughs” will not be counted as multiple penalty impacts.
Scoring Steel – Steel will consists of round or square plates, or standing “pepper popper”-style targets. All steel targets must fall to be scored. All scoring targets will be white in color. Steel may not be engaged closer than 10 yards.
Hardcover Steel - “Hardcover” targets may be user to obscure other scoring targets from point of view or aim. Hardcover targets will be painted a solid color other than white. Hardcover impacts will not be assessed as penalties.
Reactive Targets – Other reactive targets may be deployed during a course of fire. Descriptions will be given during the match briefing.
Holsters
Any IDPA, IPSC, concealed-style, or tactical-style holster is allowed. Shoulder rigs, vest-mounted, fanny packs are not allowed.
Handgun holsters must be attached to a belt or be securely attached to the body, and cover the trigger. Holsters may not be removed once the competition has begun.
Allied Equipment
Magazine pouches, utility pouches, loading devices may be removed or changed at any time before or after a course of fire to provide better mobility or additional safety for the competitor.
Slings
Tactical or single-web slings are allowed or shotguns and rifles. Slings may not be added or removed from a competitor’s weapon once the competition has begun.
Cold Range
All weapons are to be unloaded prior to the commencement of the match. Loading/Unloading of weapons will be performed under the direction of a Range Officer.
Match Disqualification
Downed Weapon – Any weapon dropped on the range before, during or after a course of fire will result in a match DQ.
180 Degree – Any weapon pointed in a rearward direction during a course of fire will result in a match DQ.
Sweeping/Covering – Any competitor’s muzzle/barrel that points or covers any competitor’s body or portion of body at any time during the match will receive a match DQ.
Accidental/Negligent Discharge – Any bullet impact within 1 meter of the competitor not directed at an intended target, or any bullet that goes beyond the berm/designated impact area will result in a match DQ.
Unsportsman-like Conduct – Taunting, heckling another competitor, intentionally altering/damaging another competitor’s gear, arguing with a range officer will result in a match DQ.
