Just checked my stash of blasting ammo, looks like I've only got less than 500 rnds of ammo. Since I'm not going to dip into my SHTF ammo I'll have to defer today.

Good to know others have jacked up schedules also.

I have an extra extractor spring or two somewhere, unless I lost them at the range when I dumped my toolbox over in the grass... if you don't find one, let me know. -E.

AFTER-ACTION REPORT

Yeah -
It was a little chilly with the wind - but nice outside for sure.

I think I we need to set up a TRADITIONAL  TOM BEAN  MEETING-
Maybe - monthly or every 6 weeks or so
.

Anyhow - I shot somewher close to 650 rounds at the range.
I did not think I shot that much until I was driving back and started counting the number of mags I actually fired off.

I shot about 300 or so out of both of my rifles - with no problems - except twice when I tried to bump-fire .  I think that is a waste of time.
We shot TANNERITE - RUBBER  targets , golf balls, paper targets, etc.
We had a good time.

Brian's SEBR  is super nice w/ Eotech
Rogue's Berettea P-4 ?? pistol is cool as heck.

This was the first time to fire my ARS  w/ the Chip McCormick Single Stage Triggers "straight"
I am completely happy with the way both the rifles triggers felt and shot.
I have to admit - they are awesome..

Rogue007 is going to post pics of us out there.

Pics of the range will follow once Rouge007 gets to it --

OK........i'm finally home.

I had a great day, we need to do this at least once a month.

I only had one problem, a casing got stuck in my chamber, it appeared to have a filing or shard still on it when the bullet was reloaded.
then when cycled the brass peeled like a banana and did not fire (thankfully, btw it was a live round),
matt johnson tapped it out with some cleaning rods and a hammer.
Other than that, 'twas a blast...........

here is a video of GETSUM shooting off some tannerite.

tannerite

and here are all of the pics that we had time for......................enjoy!

Don't shoot the messenger...

Just an FYI-- Bump Firing is no longer allowed at Tom Bean, unless you get confirmation/permission from the owner himself. Please respect his decision and also be sure to keep all rounds ON the berm.

ALSO - Anyone really know and talk to "RALPH"

If you do, can you tell the guy to post some signs.
Most people are ignorant to basic respect.
I think it would be cleaner if a sign was posted.

Heck, he needs to post a few that say -
PLEASE CLEAN UP YOUR TARGETS
PLEASE NO TRACERS
PLEASE DO NOT BUMP FIRE
ETC.

------- you could see where it looked like tracers had caught the birm on fire "burned 1/2 of it"

That way future users of the range know and take care of it.

BTW - BUMP FIRING is over rated and sucks..

When did this happen, and was there an incident that prompted it?  How was this announced?

Extremely high winds.

Announced by Ralph, Saturday.

Don't blame tracers-- that's someone else's trademark (edited to remove name )

That fire wasn't caused by tracers--- I bet you'd never guess what caused it.

Some of us talk to Ralph-- talked to him Saturday in fact.

CnL has/had been working on some basic signs, like hearing protection required, etc.

However, the owner, Ralph, mentioned Saturday that Bump Firing WILL have to stop.

What about having an AR15.com (all other boards welcome too ) local "kid" shoot + BBQ + social event, out at Tom Bean or other local range?

I know kids are welcome and attend the events anyway, but what if the parents that usually leave the kids behind, brought them to a special event where the main goal is to allow kids to shoot safely, maybe have small competitions-- target shooting with various rifles/handguns, plate shoots, bowling pins, etc. Kind of like a carnival, but with stages and winners, and supervision for each shooter...

No, we'd have separate age groups and classifications just so that doesn't happen...

On a side note, Ralph@Tom bean lets the local 4H club kids shoot there free of charge to help promote the sport, I wonder if he will do the same for an event like this...
