Email your reps and let em know that knee jerk reactions to the incident in va are not the answer.  Let em know that the answer is doing away with the "gun free zones" and letting trained honest law abiding citizens carry in schools.  We all need to go on the offensive on this one!  If you don’t know who to email heres a great tool to find out whom you need to be emailing http://www.congressmerge.com/onlinedb/index.htm

I'm afraid you'll have more luck getting cats to march in formation than getting anything moving here.  I wrote today that I hoped this would not be used as an excuse to punish the rest of the millions of Missouri residents that did not kill anyone in a dorm room today.   I'm afraid that this is going to come out badly and it's going to take more than 10 people writing a letter to overcome the fire fanning that 24/7 news is going to be doing.

This dude just set the new bar in shooting massacres, and nobody is going to see the truth... that lockdowns and harshly worded signs do not protect you from assholes who decide that today they want to kill 30 or 40 folks cause their nut-less sacks can't handle being broken up with.

This is going to suck.

Well it my be an exercise in futility but I like being heard and speaking up that away if there is any kind of ban I can say I tried and did my part.  Thats what pissed me off when I was coming up when the first ban it was put into place and I felt I never had my chance to speak my peace same way with the nfa so now the time is here and I will speak my peace.

And good on ya for doing so.  I honestly mean that.

My point is that if you want to get something started... the MO hometown forum should not be your last stop.  It simply doesn't have any significant momentum to it.  That's not a dig at the forum just a fact of life with the small number of folks that regularly post.

While I applaud your efforts, the timing leaves a little bit to be desired.  While I agree that the Virginia event is going to have detrimental effects for law adibing gun owners, now is not the time for 2nd amendment chest thumping to elected officials.  There will most certainly be a time for that, probably very soon.  However the victims are'nt even buried yet.

If you do write, do so very carefully.  There is a great risk of coming off as someone so obsessed with firearms that they can't frame anything outside them.  I think Cav makes a good point here.  You can craft a better response later when you see what is actually in the pipe.

If only someone in the mainstream media could believe that an armed and trained 'good guy' or three could have minimized this tragedy.

I think that may be true to a point, but as the other side is already pounding the drums I think its important to pound back if not now soon.  And grunteled point taken about not coming off like some crazed gun nut.

Not saying it won't hurt to go ahead and do this, but in just about every poll/interview I've seen (that wasn't on some ultra lefty site/show) people seem to have their heads on straight and know that further "gun control" or "bans" are not the answer.

While probably unlikely, it would be nice to think that this event will remind people WHY the right to bear arms cannot, and will not, be infringed upon and that the need to defend one's self will never go away.

it would be good if NRA and/or relatives of victims sued VT for taking away the right to protect themselves.
