Sorry, of all the times I've been thru Syracuse the only gunshop that was ever visited was Brewerton Sports, and I think he's closed up. Forget Gander Mountain: the closest they have to EBR's are Mini-14's
The Rochester show is this weekend, Albany is 1/22-23,... the Syracuse show is the bests show in the state IMHO.

First off, welcome to the site.

Second, you are at the right place to buy a AR, just look in the equiptment exchange fourm and I am sure you can find what you are looking for at a fraction of the price.

Third, be aware of NYS gun laws, the sunset on the fed. AWB didn't affect us in NY, the state has it's own AWB. Also check or ask around to see if your city has one as well... Call a local FFL.

Forth, take some of that money you saved and help support this awesome website, you will never be sorry by becoming a team member here.

GEM Sports/Ra-Lins. Burnett Ave. Some black rifles. Lots of Glocks. Some good deals on consignment guns. Probably the best shop in Syracuse.

Despirato's/Solvay Home and Outdoor. Solvay. Hit or miss on inventory, but occasionally a good deal.

CNY Sports in Central Square, Route 11 N of the village. Not a bad shop, but rarely stop there.

If Brewerton isn't closed, they should be. Inventory has been absolute garbage for at least 2 years. When the most stocked rifle was a KelTec 9mm, the writing was on the wall (as were the junk guns).

I know a couple small FFLs  who have shops in  their homes. There is not really what I consider a great store in the Syracuse area.

The new Gander Mountain in Cicero has a lot of handguns, but no black rifles. They do have a good buy on a used Reminton 1100 Combatmaster. ~$430, I believe. Some cosmetic wear but low round count.

I usually go to Rochester (ProGun) or loacal gunshows for the best selection.

You will find a lot of decent, fairly inexpensive shooting ranges in the area

If you are looking for a private sale on a very nice preban Colt R6551 Sporter Target, fairly priced, drop me an email

Oh, and welcome to the area!

don't forget the Rochester gun show this weekend. probably won't find an AR for a good price though, but you might
just avoid that one asshat that talks about how collapsable stocks are more tactical and are legal now

MORE TACTICAL!

I hate that guy, tons of state AWB violations on that table usually.

he was there again, with ARs with flash suppressors, and labeled "new bushmaster ...." or "new olympic arms ...."

Whats more, I'm sure we'll see the SAME rifles at the upcoming NY spring shows

Cuseshooter - SP10 and Aimless gave a pretty good accounting of the gun shop situation here in Syracuse - it's not very good, but we manage to get what we need one way or the other... I have a few sources willing to do FFL transfers for a reasonable amount - IM me some contact info, and I'll see if I can hook you up, if you're interested... I'm a member of the Pompey R&G Club - maybe you'd be interested in getting together to do a bit of shooting sometime... I'm only about 15 minutes east of Syracuse, BTW...
