The BATFE has stated the making a 'silencer' for a paintball gun is illegal.  I can't imagine them allowing a suppressor on an air rifle without collecting their $200 first.  Integral to the gun or not, if it is a suppressor, alll NFA rules apply.

Correct. And if it is being sold NOT as a silencer, the ATF, at any time can determine it is a silencer and demand it be destroyed or the tax paid.

The BATFE has a history of making arbitrary rulings that make little sense.  That doesn't mean that we have to like their decision, or even agree, but it is a damn good idea to obey the law while lobbying for reasonable reform.

The agency takes particular delight in raining on the parades of those who think that they are beating the man by skirting the letter of the law. People who think that they are flying under the radar usually don't stay aloft for long. Many will crash hard and burn.

IMO, the pride of ownership of a fucking suppressed BB gun isn't worth risking having the gun confiscated, losing the right to keep and bear real firearms or even an all-expense paid trip to club fed.  To each his own.
