Anyone know how I go about this?

Possibly buying a G19 from a LEO tomorrow. Usually have to go to HQ with bill of sale/dealer FFL #, no? Advice on how to pull off a private transaction?

Thanks

Same drill.  You need the pistols info and his personal & LEO info.

Still confused about the process...

1. Collect his info (shield number, name, address, DOB, serial # of pistol?) on what? Pen & paper, official document?
2. Pay him and leave the pistol with him?
3. Go to HQ with his info and pay for purchase order?
4. Return to seller and have him fill out purchase order?
5. What about NICS and the "Are you a drug using, mental patient, criminal" form?
6. Return to HQ to have pistol added to license?

1.√   (doesn't matter on what. You can make up a bill of sale if you want, but it's not needed.)
2, √  I'd give him a good faith deposit. Gun stays with him.
3. √
4. √
5. No forms or NICS for person to person. (as long as you're not at a gun show)
6. √

The BEST way to do a person to person pistol is to both go to HQ together if you can work it out. Just one trip then.
I don't know what he's got to do on his end, paper work wise so it may not work out that way.

Thanks a bunch, man. Going together to HQ is a great idea, didn't think of that.

Its really easy if the two of you just goto Hq. It'll take a few minutes and you're done. Very easy to do, no fees involved except $5 per pistol to be added on to your license.

+1, much easier to head down together.
