I haven't done much mostly due to ammo cost and time constraints, been working weekends.

Environmental conditions have never really stopped me from shooting-the work schedule is what'll keep me from shooting about 90% of the time

Ammo costs, putting money into guns, having nowhere to shoot close, having a really busy work schedule and having no one to spur of the moment say "hey, let's go shooting" to, have kept me of the ranges for a while.

With these 100 degree days, I limit my shooting to early morning and tried to finish before noon.  Today mostly shooting from the bench and underneath cover, and 15 minutes of short handgun practice drills.

The heat hasn't stopped me from going shooting before, but..... my truck hasn't had air conditioning for 7 years, and it takes me an hour or so to get to CE and longer to get to Madison.  I'm miserable before I even get there.    I spent the last weekend playing Gears of War on my 50 inch TV with the xbox 360 (surround sound to).   This weekend I might not do much more.....   Tues. I might help a buddy build up his ak if he can make it.

I put in a good bit of time at River Bend yesterday. Drank lots of water and enjoyed the occasional breeze up on the hill!

I have my own range. Although I made a pilgrimage to Creekside yesterday. I've been know to visit the riverbend gun club and Charlie Elliot on occasion. Usually find me with a baseball cap with a think dish rag stuffed under it to protect my neck and ears a white T-shirt white cover shirt (long sleeve) and a pair of white loose fitting goodwill dockers. (And a big cooler)

500WE yesterday did you tell me that JKaiser usually shoots there in the afternoon? I like to know who I meet.

Not guilty counselor. Spoke with several folks about many things at RBGC yesterday, but Bro' Kiser wasn't on the list.

I've limited my shooting to indoor pistols the last few weeks. When it cools off a little I'll take my collection to Charlie Elliot. I did shoot some round through my 1891 Argentine Mauser yesterday, but it was still on the indoor range.

BTW, I heard a rumor that the owner of a local gun store is looking at warehouses in the I85/I285 area, with the intention of installing a 100yd indoor range.

We're still shooting nearly every week-end in Augusta, really haven't seen a decline at the matches, whatever they are, and I'm probably the biggest wimp out of the group when it comes to heat.

Come on down, pick your week-end and I'll tell you the poison of the day or e-mail me and I'll put you on the notification list.

Caver,

Are you in Athens? If so, where do you shoot?   I don't mind shooting in the heat.  It has not stopped me...yet.  I just don't know where to go now that the Madison range is closed.  Anyone in the Athens area that knows of a good place to shoot?  Otherwise I'll just have to wait for that home invasion to let off some rounds.

OMG That's great news if true. We need more ranges.

is the Madison range closed for good?

I hate to admit it, but I too have done less shooting due to the heat. It's also caused a decrease in my time on the golf course.

It seems like every time I find motivation to get out in the heat, something comes up and I find a good reason not to get out in it.

I'll answer for him, he's far from Athens near the Dalton area-pretty far from Athens. He's also one of our resident precision rifle guys, so he's not out plinking....

Bill's correct. I am near Dalton. We have a 500rd range at our club.

I don't enjoy the heat, but the practice must go on

(bill, you give me too much credit, lol)
