I would like to know if anyone else out there would like to split up the Rocky Mountain HTF into individual state HTFs?
I have have talked with Site Staff and if enough people would like to have their own state as a HTF, we might be able to pull it off. Just vote in the poll if you would like it split up or to just keep it the way it is... After a week or so Site staff will decide if this will go up the chain or stay this way. Thanks |
|
Even with several states combined, this is one of the lamest HTFs.

Alaska & Hawaii Carolinas Dakotas Gulf States Kansas & Nebraska Maryland, Delaware, D.C. New England Virginias And also, Canada, Europe, and the UK. |

What make having the states with their own forums such a shitty idea? That would be on par with what usually happens. Some one moves to WY or MT from another state and then wants to change thing so that it is more like where they came from. Since most of us travel to the other states often and there is only about 4-8 new post a day in the HTF just leave it the way it is. |

OP must be a Cali native....hasn't even got here yet and wants to change things..LMFAO!

I'm all for it.
Hey, they split NY and NJ finally. eta: No offense but this HTF get's more action from the Utah folks than any other group using this HTF., i.e. Group shoots, dinner, local news, etc. |
|
Hahaha. The above posts made me laugh.
I have no problem with having the current HTF setup... |
|
|
No. This forum has such a small amount of traffic now I don't see a reason to split it up.
|
|
seems fine the way it is to me, but I just moved here about a year ago
|
|
It can be a pain to sift through it to find the stuff that is applicable to each state, but I can also see the argument for keeping it all in one. I think it should be split though, no offense to any other state.

Yep, very low participation for the number of members in the area, I've tried a couple times to get Idaho members together for a shoot/campout, always fizzles. I'm also closer to most of Utah and Wyoming than to most of Idaho, I'm more likely to drive to SLC than to Boise. |

I can see the merits and the disadvantages of doing so.
On one hand, in Wyoming, people east of Rawlins and South of Riverton (which is where the majority of our population lies) are more likely to visit the front range of CO than SLC, Boise or even Billings. This has always annoyed me in the NRA magazines which show regional interests, but do not include Colorado, which is where a majority of our population heads to for entertainment and business. Myself, I am more likely to visit Casper, Cheyenne, Rapid City, SD, Scottssbluff, NE or the Colorado Front Range than any of the places I listed above. This leaves me checking multiple HTFs, which would make little sense combining. If anything, I think that the largest "visitation" of the Rocky Mountain region tends to be between Colorado, Wyoming and SoDak. Hardly anyone from Denver/Ft. Collins goes to SLC or Boise, but they travel in droves to Rapid City, and WY might as well be "Colorado's Playground", for example. The west is weird that way. The states are so large, and large mteropolitan areas, or even good size towns, are so few and far between that we tend to travel to states adjacent to us. For instance, Eastern WY might as well be Western SoDak, and SE WY might as well be part of the CO front range. Folks from Evanston would are more likely to travel to SLC than Denver, so they would be considered part of Northeastern Utah, etc. |

I think Utah should get their own since they seem to make up a majority of the traffic here, and I'm tired of having to click on threads to see if they might be something of local interest to me only to find that it's some Utah thing that may as well be on the moon as far as I'm concerned. |

Hey medicmandan:.
How about everyone but Utah stays in the Rocky Mountain HTF? The beehive state can stand on it's own. Always have and always will. |

I'd be cool with staying as one group of states, with a caveat: Titles containing the state which they are directed, if they are directed towards just one state. Such as: "ID hookers and blow" or "UT, lets go blast some salt mounds"

I really don't care either way but I do a agree that if we are going on traffic, UT does get the most. Overall, I don't see any of us getting enough traffic to have our own state forum though. It would be nice, as one guy said, to put the state you're addressing in the title. There's been a few times I saw something that looked interesting only to read a chunk of it and realize its not applicable to my state.

Put Utah by itself, most of the posts are from that state anyway. keep MT ID WY as one HTF

Just wait until you meet the OP.....we're glad he's foing, as the wafting odor of patchouli is kinda overwhelming, and his personal fashion statement of sprinkling pink glitter on hisself is more than a bit disturbing. We're also tired of his wheat grass/Bacardi 151 concoctions and bringing not much more than granola trail mix to GTG's. We're not even sure if he owns a firearm, let alone an AR, he does seem interested, since he's always asking how/where/why we aquired various toys...personally I think he's moving to MT because of the state NFA laws...he seems really interested in FA stuff, especially how to make one. I'm sure there's nothing to that....the OP even told me so, right after he asked how many dogs I have. I, for one, am sure glad that I'm free of the burden of traveling to other states, or having to communicate with posters from them. the drawback is that it IS pretty annoying to be in a location with a HTF that is so active...it makes the other HTF's seem so, reasonably paced. |

Thank god we are getting rid of one of them damn Californians... Next thing you know they are going run Jerry Brown for president again

I think this has gathered the info the OP needed to take back to staff. It's starting to get off track so let's wrap it up and see where things go from here.
|

Are there any "cons" to splitting up the states? I've read some pretty good Pros but haven't really heard any cons.
I guess I am good with either way though. It does seem like the Utah boys are the ones doing the most here. |

I've been watching this thread and we've had less then 100 votes in over a week. This forum that is made up of multiple states still doesn't get much traffic. Looking at the Forum list for the HT Board, this forum is pretty close to being the least used one out of all the HTFs. I think you guys beat out Europe and the Dakotas for traffic. While I hate to disappoint those that voted yes, I'm going to have to say it wouldn't be beneficial to split this forum up. Given the responses I've seen, it may be worth it for you guys to have the OP list the state in the thread titles to make it easier for others to find those threads. Given the low traffic in here, it shouldn't be that difficult to find them anyway. |
