where is everyone?
I figured they must be, since it is so quiet in here. |
ANybody in South dakota got any lowers they wanna sell? or know a good FFL to transfer to? Im in sioux falls
Go to gunbroker.com it has an FFL finder, that is how i found mine.
+1 on that. I am now damn good friends with the guy I met off gunbroker.com. |
Sioux Falls.
Many locals around here, I just can't seem to get them together. |
I guess with the gass prices so high, you can forget about any big get togethers anytime soon. |
But we are all within 10 miles of each other! (about 6 or 8), I only know 2. Maybe I should switch deodorants? |
I am in for a ND ARFCOM shoot / get-together.
ETA: Especially since I just became an ND resident the other day |
Even a dinner could be a good get together. Anything that gives the members a chance to meet is a plus IMO. This one of the main reasons we have the Home Town Forums here at ARFCOM.
i keep telling ya...... We should go out do some drive by's and then eat a big steak!
Here in Grand Forks in the winter we have the "Frozen Bobber" fishing tourney. We shoud do a "Frosty Barrel" ARFCOM shoot in the end of December or January.
-and/or- We could just get together any old time. I think if all of us in the RRV got together for a shoot and a BBQ, it would be a great time. Who else is in? |
I am up for a meet-n-greet at a local watering hole or steak joint if anybody else is.
Now we're making some progress.
So, is there anyone else out there willing to get in on this? I don't think I'll be able to make it though. |
i say if we do we should bring our $$$ together and fly gunnut's ass up here!
Careful what you wish for! Pheasant season is coming up though... You like pheasant, VA? |
Oh yeah, I like pheasant.
It was always fun to hunt for, back when I had time to go hunting. |
Nothing dry ice and UPS overnight can't fix. We can even leave the feathers and guts, so you can thaw it out, go to your porch, dump a 12ga round, then go inside and clean your "kill"! |
It's a big state. The Mitchell Cabela's cafe is centrally located.
I know we have over 10 in Sioux Falls Local, and at least 3 in Mitchell. Gotta get the two "sub-crews" together. I don't know who all is out west though. Instead of shooting for the gathering, I find a relaxed fun chat-abble environment is the best place (Like Ruby Tuesday's or something) |
So who's going to take this project over? We need one member from each state to try and organize something. Unless you think members from both states can make it to one gathering?
This ain't like ol' Virginia. There's a lot of prarie to cover around here between places. I say we try an individual State get-together, and then also try a big get-together.
If beer were allowed on the range you'd sing a different tune |
He has a Good point. By the time Spartan24 drove to Sioux Falls from western ND, VA-Gunnut would be the equivalent of driving to a Vermont Event. (well, less traffic here, but the distances between Sioux Falls (SE SD) and far end of ND (NE ND) is about 600+ miles. |
I guess an event in each state would be better. We still need someone to take the ball on this. |
I thought you had the ball? Who cares if you are gonna show up or not. |

I'm 30 miles north of Huron so a meet at Cabela's in Mitchell would be my best bet to work out. I'd love to get together and meet all my fellow AR shooters here in SoDak. I build AR's for ppl. Mostly varmiters as i'm an avid prarie dog shooter. Believe it or not......i've got about the only dog town i know of east of the missiouri river right here in my back yard. Pure Heaven. Oh by the way VA-gunnut.......i retired from the military in VA. I'd love to hear from any of you even if it's just to bullshit.
Lee |
Huron hmm meltdown you writing this down? We venture up that way for yotes and such yearly.. Not like it is is far (120 miles).... For you non-Dakota folk: 120 miles = 1.5 hours. |
I'd be up for a meeting and/or shoot, but have been so busy lately that I don't have much free time. Driving is a way of life, so if I have to drive 3 or 4 hours, it's not a big deal.
Hello,
I'm an idiot. I shouldve mentioned this two months ago when I got the flier, but, The Gengerke Tactical Shootout was this weekend. That would've been a great place to meet! Its about 5 miles north of Groton, SD, and is still going on today(Sunday the 18th). They have a rental table where you can rent some HK full-autos, silenced rifles, a belt fed 308,and a Barrett M82A1. I went yesterday and got to shoot a HK36K and the Barrett, man was that fun. They have various appliances, barrels, a running car, and bottles of tannerite to shoot at. Maybe next year. I would help setup a get together sometime in October if anyone is still interested. The only problem I have is I'll be out of town for the next couple weeks with no internet. JA in SD |
Wish i'd of known about the Groton shoot..........i'd of loved to have went up just to see what was going on and meet some ppl.
Hey Brass........i wanna see you make it to Huron in 1.5 hours.........it takes me 3 to get to SF and i live another 1/2 hour northwest of Huron..... What you driving.....a SPACE SHUTTLE?
HAHAHAHAHAHA |
Sort of. When he gets his heap above 85 mph parts start flying off into space |
Tulare???.. 281 to 28 to 37.. ?? |
Spartan,
How long have you been in GF? We may have to go shooting sometime since we live in the same town! |
I just finished my new(and only)AR and would be interested. Im in Sioux Falls with Brass
I'm in Huron and I can easily make it to SF in under two, more like 1:45 and that's not really "pushing it" |
It looks like there is a decent number of SD members here. We just need someone to take the lead and set something up.
Id be willing to take the lead for the SoDaks.
I could post polls and shit on where to meet and greet. Maybee have a monthly sit down and chat about gunz, new stuff and whatever comes to mind. Let me know and i will gladly "try" and set something up! |
Isn't so hard running up 34 and using a bit of a diagonal route. Plus you get the Once in a Lifetime chance of driving across the intersection where Janklow ended his career. |
Go for it! |
1 more here in SF. I just never think to check this forum
Mike |
I hope we can change that, and that we can make this one of the forums you want to check first. |
I am way over here in Jamestown, anybody else from around here.
Gentlemen:
I have been remiss in checking this forum. My apologies. I am interested in getting together. October 14 in Mitchell or October 8-9 at the gun show in Sioux Falls (see other post). Either way. All the best, Blair |
You can make it to Soo Foo! |
I'm in... I may be in so foo on the 8th.... Mitchel for sure on the 14, Pheasants can wait.. hunted them all my life.. |
