You should be able to go if you really want to go BUT...
sometimes marrieds just need some hang out time away from each other. It's healthy. If I ask Phil_in_seattle to stay home from an event we were planning to go to, it usually translates into, "I love you and you've done nothing wrong, but I'm feeling a little suffocated by how much time we spend together.i If you don't give me some space soon, AND you arm me....nothing good can come of it."
