This thread is for the possible Nov. 8th shoot. No fencing, strip clubs, hunting, or other such tangents are to be posted here mothascratchas.
Nov 8 at Armored Fire unless anyone else can help find a better spot. I am open all day, so post your most oportune time. As we get closer to the date I can fill ammo orders for anyone needing some before the shoot.
Who can make it?

Armored Fire sucks.

IMO.

Noon to 3 PM works best for me...

Beerjager, do you have a better place for all of us to go?

I would love to go somewhere else, outside would be best. If someone would suggest someplace I am open to it. The range where Stubby gear is located perhaps? If someone has a membership at Oakdale or Princeton and could set something up that would be great.
If not Armored Fire is better than not shooting at all.
beerjager, if you can come up with another option please help us out.
Noon to 3 is good for me also.

Edited to add: If someone can get us in at a better range, I will reward them with 100 rounds of XM193 and a compact disk of their choosing( I work in the music biz).

Hmmm... Duplicate posting in a duplicate thread... This has "Delete Me" written all over it! J/K

We all know you're incredibly biased, spoiled, perhaps both? Unfortunately this time of the year your range gets pissy about its "Visitors" policy, doesn't it!?
Link Posted: 10/23/2003 7:24:04 PM EDT
Right now Oakdale is open to the public. Range nazis lurk. (I have to be one Sunday) The best group we can hope for would be 12, Jem, mnblaster and myself can each bring three. Mrs Fedgunner gets one of my slots.

I wish I had an in at Princeton. My guess is that they too will be booked for "sight in"

Be constructive here guys. The range in St Cloud is an option... tho I did see a sign when I visited that stated "no rapid fire"

I'll Call Kenny Sanford in the morning
I will get something posted tomorrow night when I get off work, just after 23:00.

I think that is opening day for deer hunting so there will not be anyone dialin in the scopes that day.

I agree with Mnblaster and beerjager, armored fire sucks.......indoor ranges just don't do it for me, unless it is below zero and too cold for outside..............but, unfortunately, since public deer rifle sight-in has started at Oakdale Gun Club, everyone would have to pay $15 for 1 gun, $10 for the next gun, and etc..
and everyone would be walking down to check targets every 5-10 minutes....so, it is not a good time to go shooting at Oakdale at this time....after November, and we get some decent weather, then everyone can shoot for nothing out there, and between the 3 members, we can take quite a few to shoot......
Link Posted: 10/24/2003 8:00:28 AM EDT
I also agree that AF is less than ideal. However, I will shoot every chance I get. If that means shooting indoors, so be it. Just like playing guitar, shooting skills can be degenerative. This is especially true with handgun. Therefore, I practice every time a good opportunity comes along.
Help us out in finding someplace better.
If we need to wait a week longer to get in at Princeton, I'm down with that as well.
Link Posted: 10/24/2003 8:01:48 AM EDT
Im up for armored fire. its not like its a change as im there 3-4 times a week.
Link Posted: 10/24/2003 8:21:29 AM EDT
I'd be up for shooting anytime and anywhere that day.

Although I need to figure out if I am going deer hunting or not this year.
Link Posted: 10/29/2003 8:19:30 AM EDT
Princeton is out so it looks like AF.

dsspro, as you are a regular at AF, do you think they would be likely to reserve a couple lanes for you and the arfcom crew(or offer a group rate)? Would you be willing to check? The ammo and CD offer would then be extended to you, as we could not come up with an alternative.

After reading previous posts it looks like davidnorth, inabad, jakezor, dsspro and myself, and possibly dpmm and fedgunner. Any updates?
Link Posted: 10/29/2003 1:39:46 PM EDT
Why was the range at StCLOUD ruled out or is every one going to complain that it is cold out like a bunch of 4yearold little girls they have a 200yd range and some nice pistol bays unless you can't hit a target past 50yds I know Quinlan and Beerjager could also Trinity5 or I would not have a problem Because we shoot it all the time.just a suggestion.I dont know all of you but I know some of you seem like you would have trouble at 200yd especially Devils advacate.ha ha j/k I want to soot that magnum Research rifle again my brotha.

I was told the St Cloud range would not be a good choice that day due to the number of hunters. There were also concerns about rapid fire restrictions.
Link Posted: 10/29/2003 2:57:07 PM EDT
the 8th is opener weeked I believe I was thinking it might be dead but I will check with the range manager. As for rapid fire no you can not but you could do controlled double taps thats all you should need unless your into guns as a hobie and to make noise.
Link Posted: 10/29/2003 4:26:15 PM EDT
Also it is $9.00 for all day pass as many guns as you want to bring you can also wear tac slings and drop holsters as well as tac vests normal range rules apply. Ear and eye pro, no shooting at rocks, open the action when you put up targets downrange dont monkey with guns when others are down range, and you can see DPMS's new shop when you drive in, and visit Stubbygear if you want to also.I just do not understand only shooting rifles at only 50yds unless you are doing CQB training and YOU cant do that at armored fire because they dont let you wear holsters.lame, am I the only one who thinks that. Personaly It's worth the drive you save money in range fees for gas.I could care less if you come up here I like haveing the range to myself most of the time except hunter sight In time the owner of AF is a greease ball who thinks StepenTyler of Arrowsmith is his freind every time he walks in did Stepen call same answer NO! I hate him because he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and he is to good to talk with poorboy me cus I am not stepen tyler of Arosmith are ya catching the sarcazim cus I'm laying it on real thick. So he doesnt need my money to give him a bigger chip on his shoulder. Now I am done excuse my punctuation

That range sounds good. I don't have any real need for rapid fire with my semis, but dsspro has the FA to think about. It would be great to accomodate everyone, I just don't know how that is going to happen. Then again, we can't shoot the AR-50 at AF. So everyone check-in and let us know what you think.

I just noticed this was post 223
Link Posted: 10/29/2003 6:28:38 PM EDT
Ok ... So I don't need to practice rapid fire techniques.

I don't need to engage handgun targets at less than 50 yards.

But by golly I can dress up like I'm gonna!

If you are trying to convince me that it will be fun to freeze my ass off so I can dress up like an "operator" and play bull's eye shooter, or National Match Rifleman, you aren't doing a very good job.

There is a distinct possibility I'm missing the entire point. I'm more than willing to be educated if that is the case.

I've been to the Del-Ton facility. It is a great range, don't get me wrong.

Armored Fire is much less than perfect. I was holding out hope for Princeton. Oakdale does have a restriction on full auto, and they are a bit spendy unless you go with a member during non-public hours.

yaaaaa bread makes me poop.Q Do you know any handicaped or special people. I am not trying to convice you of any thing I feel bad for Quinlan becuse as usual AR15 will talk about it until the event is over an every one will have an excuse why they did not go you can please some of the people some of the time but not all the people all the time. as for why people might want to shoot at a farther range is to improve skill If your all so good at farther ranges that is fine.but I doubt Most of you could beat me in a shoot off(I suck) and if you did I would let it go. I think of an AR15 as a tool I go out to (play) as you would call it Because it might save my life one day.I like to have fun shooting as much as any one.I've seen Dsspro shoot he nees to stick to FA J/k all said and done I am not going to argue the pros of marks manship any more we all know it needs to be worked on but when it's time to buck up no one is around. I have shot with many of you some are good some are bad do what you like.

death451 is one of main the reasons I will/want shoot there as he doesn't pussy foot around.

QuinlanV you are more than welcome to ride w/ me up there. I've seen you shoot so I know you have your shit together. Meet me in E. Prairie.

My "vibe" comment was my silly attempt at trying to be gracious to a board member....

Fuck it.

I don't need some newbie to this board lecturing me on how and where to shoot.
I don't need rambling rants about range owners who had the good fortune to be born into money. I still can't figure out the whole rock singer thing.

As for the challenge? As stated...skill level sucks. Big motivation there.

And to address "I'm all for mindlessly blowing rounds down range."

I'm sure many of us remember being entertained by one of the members here sending about six magazines down range ala bumpfire. Not to mention the same guy getting his rifle so hot that he poured a half liter of water down the chamber, making the AR do a creditable impression of an espresso machine.

There! now that is out of my system.

Some things might move easier around here sans the nasty ass attitude eh?

Link Posted: 10/31/2003 1:50:38 PM EDT
DEATH451, I'd like to take on the shooting challenge you were talking about. I'm a member out at Oakdale Gun Club and shoot at 100 & 200 open iron sights all the time, let me know if you want to do some shooting. Only a couple of rules though, no optics or electronic sights, spotter at 200 yds if you want. We can go over to the handgun range after that and shoot .45's at 25 & 50 yds. I'm no expert, but I've been shooting all my life.
Link Posted: 10/31/2003 1:51:39 PM EDT
Some members can't make DelTone due to time constraints, but are still interested in shooting. I will have to check with my wife and see if she will be free to watch the little guy all day on the 8th. It looks like most of you are wanting to head up north for the shoot. I will wait a couple more days and see what develops. Maybe I will have to shoot at both locations. If DelTone is the place we could meet at my work in Golden Valley on 169 and 55. There are some places to get breakfast, and we could consolidate into less cars. I will check back over the weekend and see what you guys think.

see now thats more like it mnblaster just wanted some friendly comitition. Oakdale is a great range I wish I was a member.shot there quite a bit. AS for the newbie remark just because I finally started posting and don't have 300 bull$hit posts does not mean I havent been reading this board for a while. I might be the reason no one is comeing out to shoot but what was the reason before. Truth hurts and that is why people are getting upset so I only eliminated people who would not get along with beerjager or myself any way I am not that tough to get along with (belive it or not) Did you ever think the reason other lukers 80+ on the MN sign in area don't post is because they will be called newbie. IT SHOULD NOT MATTER HOW MANY POSTS I HAVE JUST GOT SICK OF the whineing. If you are better than me fedgunner because you have more posts thats fine. The only people who get offended by my remarks are the people who know I am right

death451...

Umm dude... take a look at your post header... You are a member as of this month... Fuck the post count. ::self checking:: Yup.. October 2003.

As to you being right... About what? All you have done is launch into a class warfare screed about some guy that has money... Lesse, tied in an ancient rock singer... Ummm... Said you suck as a rifleman... I know there is more..

As to the reason that no one was coming before? Gee! could you fucking imagine that someone might not want to drive a hour and a half to pop a few rounds? (BTW, Not my reason, Hell, I drove up there just to look around.)

And before you think this is some "my range is better than your range" kinda thing, Del-Ton is a beautiful range. Oakdale has it's shortfalls as well.. that is one of the reasons it is out of the running for the next shoot.

Now to post count and my grandiose feelings of greatness.

What the fuck are you talking about?
I stated the obvious. Your membership on this board started this month. You have spoken to the people that have been here a while like you knew them. You might have noticed I took a different tone with Beerjager. I have worked out with him three or four times now, gotten to know him and his style. You bothered to do none of this before running your mouth.

There enough of that shit.

Dude...if it is available to you, use the spell checker. It really does help. (No this is not a shot! Just a bit of advice.. worth exactly what you paid for it.)

Jesus! I'm getting long winded!

I'll be honest with you.... What set me off was your insinuation that we are all "gear queers"(Thank you Stubby), afraid of the cold, can't shoot beyond 50 meters, and are suspect if we believe that handgunning is not a 50 meter sport.

In short, Yer muther was a hamster! ant yer father smelt of elderberries!

far from done just done trying to talk people into shooting on sat. Paulie at the range said we could bring out the steel targets and IDPA target stands. just wear boots of some kind it is muddy over in the pistol bays. He also said it should be dead out there. So most likely we can have the place to ourselfs. Also I dont like it when people get personal and say things about my mom and dad cus they are DEAD and you should not speak ill of the dead.

The reason to sign up is that AR15.com is self supporting and the servers are not free. It is an incredible resources for us shooters. Not too long ago there was nothing like this for shooters. I definitely find it worth my $20.00 just to keep it available. This post reminds me of the other board everyone complains about.

Here is the plan.
We can meet infront of Down in the Valley records(NW corner of 55 and Winetka ave) in Golden Valley at 8:30am on the 8th, and depart from there at 8:45am. This is just East of 169 and just North of 394, so it should be on the way for most. For anyone planning to meet us in St.Cloud, plan on around 10:00am.

I will take ammo orders until noon on Wed.

IM me with any questions.

Here is the offer:

Range opens at 10am. StubbyGear will cover the $9 range cost for anyone who spends $50 or more at our store. Meet at the store at 10am. Head to the range after we meet and greet, heck I'll even pick up some Krispy Kremes and Coffee if interested.
