Big, beautiful, clean, but like all Gander Mountain's Ripoff's, expensive as hell. I mean, come on! 100 round box of Winchester white box .45 for $60?!?? 9mm for $40??!

The one near Richmond closed a couple years back. It was sandwiched between Walmarts, Bass Pro, and Greentop (which later took over the Gander Mt. building).

I'd stop by there when doing the gun tasting tour of Richmond, but can't recall ever buying anything there.

Damnit!  I was going there after work.  100 rnd of 9mm reman from Freedom is $20, .45 is $32.  I understand all the overhead, but that's a huge markup!

My buddy wants to pick up one of their Black Friday M&P 15's for $680.  He said it comes with a case and 4 pmags.  That doesn't seem like a "deal".

EDIT: Just looked up Cabela's that you all are pumped about.  They are selling boxes of 9mm Federal AE 100rnds for $24.99.  But they don't open until 2017 here.

Cutting through the parking lot I can't imagine it's more than 125 yards.

EDIT: I called last week asking about Critical Defense (9mm) and was told "We don't have any 9mm".  I guess I should have followed up - do you not carry ammo (9mm), or were you out of stock?

QT speaks wisely.

I went over the weekend. I liked the store and its nice. Gun prices suck. They have some of the highest SIG prices I've ever seen. I doubt I would ever buy a gun there. I also did not see any reloading items at all.

That's been the price for the same ammo for 8+ years when the Fredericksburg store opened. Gander generates the least amount of profit per square foot of store compared to any other large sporting goods store. That doesn't make it OK, but that's why their prices blow goats. QT FTW.

Im still not sure what the big wigs at Gander Mtn were thinking when they put a store there with QT just around the corner...

Their very survival will depend on how many yuppies crawl out from under their rock to buy fishing poles and flannel shirts at inflated prices.

It's always nice to have more sporting goods stores than fewer, but GM is one source I hope to never have to use.

Can't wait to use Cabela's site to store though!

I don't know how the one in Fredericksburg stays in business. I have never seen more than five customers in the store. You can't browse the firearms anymore since they moved everything behind the counter. Maybe Green Top can expand north and take over this one too. Their prices are a little better.

Actually I think QT needs to expand more than Greentop.  I think QT needs to open a shop right there close to Greentop.  Maybe then Greentop will have some competitive prices, but I would still shop QT!  I just hate having to drive to Woodbridge.

LOL - technically they are.  They just took over the store next door and it looks like they will more than double their size when they are done.

Speaking of that - I still need an answer from QT about my 9mm ammo question, but more importantly - when will the "other side" be open?

I don't care if they expand in NVA. I want them to expand to central VA.

Fixed it for ya.

Nah, hope you get a store.  I don't know what their plans are, but I hope they take VA by storm, a la Five Guys - then the USA.  They the world!  Nah, screw the world.  VA is fine.

QT is an excellent store, but I guess that's already echoed by many here.

GM pricing is super high. It's a nice store, but damn... damn...

Do they sell stuff you can try on and buy elsewhere, or is it kinda like an L.L. Bean store where it's all their own branded stuff?

QT?
They are a 5.11 carrier. You can try stuff on at their store.
Smiths, 5.11, and magpul.

I've been to the woodbridge location and it's nice. If anything, go and burn some time looking around.

I walked in to the Gander M in Fredericksburg, oh boy they had just about every caliber in stock and full, while ammo was scarce earlier this year in the winter.  But as you walk and see the price, then you know why

Today I went to the new Dicks in Springfield Mall and bought 5 boxes of Blazer Brass 9mm for $9.98, can't beat that price for great target plinking ammo.
