I lived in East Burnaby for several months, about a thousand years ago. All I remember is, their hookers were the best dressed, best looking women I had seen to that point, but their money was the stoopidest looking stuff this side of Pakistan. Speaking of which, nowdays it's pretty hard to tell Vancouver from New Delhi! The Kobe was terrific and Gastown used to be fairly cool. But, that was back when canuckanadian beer was something new and different...Beddy good, beddy good...beddybeddy goodgood.

Hell, I'd trade California for British Columbia. It's kind of inane to base an opinion of someplace on nothing more than a quick impromptu swing by. And heck, at least Canadians can still buy and own AR15s and other nifty evil black rifles.

1+1+1= +3?

For the record- It's all twostages' fault, he took me up there, and except for the weakest cigarettes I've ever smoked in my life...I liked it.

All-in-all I liked it as well.

Going across the border was interesting both ways.

U.S.-CAN: Went roughly like this....

CAN: ID Please
Hand her my DL.
CAN: WA driver's license and I see you have CA plates......whats the story there?
Me: Recently  moved.
CAN: Do you have any other ID.
Me: No, I left my CA driver's license at home.
CAN: Do you own this vehicle?
Me: Yes.
CAN: What do you do?
Me: Nothing, I'm on an extended vacation.
CAN: How much money do you have on you?
Me: Not exactly sure, but less than $20 in cash.
CAN: You don't have more than $10,000.00 in U.S. currency on you do you? (huh?)
Me: Uhhh.....no.
CAN: What do you do for a living? (again?)
Me: Nothing, I just moved.
CAN: You don't have a job?
Me: Correct.
CAN: Where are you headed?
Me: Vancouver.
CAN: To do what, for what reason?
Me: Never been to Canada, wanted to check it out.
CAN: So you decided to wake up at 12 noon, and go to Canada?
Me: Actually I woke up around 8:30am.
CAN: Uh huh....
Me: I  tried to go yesterday (Sun) but was sidetracked.
CAN: How long have you been living in WA?
Me: A couple weeks.
CAN: Who does this car belong to? (Again?)
Me: Me.
CAN: Are you in any trouble with the law?
Me: No.
CAN: Any convictions?
Me: No.
CAN: Ever been in front of a Judge?
Me: Yes.
CAN: Why?
Me: Traffic violations, years back.
CAN: What kind(s), any DUI's ever?
Me: Speeding, and no, never.
CAN: Hmmmm......
She takes a moment to make some sort of a decision...
CAN: Here is you driver's license.
Me: Thank ya.
CAN: Drive safely.

Or maybe that is standard precedure, I dunno.

CAN-U.S.

Not one, but two border patrol agents, went very similar to this:

BPA: Driver's license please.
He looks it over and hands it back.
BPA: I see you have a camera there, what are you taking pictures of?
(I got the immediate impression that they don't like a camera being within a casual arm's reach of your person when in your car and crossing the border)
Me: My country's border station and it's upstanding BPA's. Is that a bad idea?
BPA: Yes, not a very good thing to do.
BPA: Where are you coming from?
Me: Vancouver.
BPA: What were you doing there?
Me: Just visting our neighbor to the north. Never been before. (I guess I said somthing wrong.)
BPA: Shut off your car and give me the keys.
So I give him the keys and he hands them to the other BPA.
BPA: It'll be just a moment he is going to search the trunk of your car.
(I'm thanking myself for remebering to take my Savage rifle out of there 2 days before.)
I can hear the other BPA rummaging around, finally tells the other BPA it's clean, and hands me back my keys.
BPA: Here you go, welcome back.
Me: Thank ya.

I am very pleased that our BPA's are that thorough at the Canadian border, they must be 10X as
thorough at the Mexican border. Or at least I hope.

If you want the border crossing to be even more weird when going into Canada and they ask you why you're coming into Canada and how long you'll be there them that you are going to the Hockey Shop, Tim Hortons, and you'll be an hour maybe two.

Then when you coming back into the US and they ask how long you'd been in Canada you tell them about 45 minutes.  Oh yes there will be more questions!

Thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to do that next time in case I get REALLY bored again, and have planty of time to kill in an interrogation room!
