It's in that god awful desert that fronts up against the forest north of the White Mountains. It's an old Mormon settlement and is very, very Mormon still. They even have a Temple.
Don't expect much nightlife. The local Justice of the Peace is a crook. They once made me pay a traffic ticket twice even though I had the cancelled check from the first time. "If our records show you didn't pay it, then you didn't pay it.." |

Lots and lots and lots and lots of RED dirt!!!

There is a LOT of red dirt around there but a lot of dirt roads for exploration as well as the BLM & State land. It is close to Show Low (just sold my acreage there last month) and it's a nice town but Snowflake isn't too bad and is growing like a weed..as is Taylor. Silver Creek is a lot of fun to hike along as is Chevelon Creek/Canyon more to the north of Snowflake but SE of Winslow.
Since I'm no longer stationed at Luke, and don't get out to Arizona much anymore, wife says the properties outside of Snowflake (& Seligman) have to go so I've got 5 rural acreages for sale if your brother in law is interested. Backwoods Home Magazine had a nice article on Snowflake a year or so ago that would be a nice read about the town and area around it. |
