Finally time for cannibalism, the news is making it out to be snowpocalypse 0'11.  So what plans do you have for the wintery day?

I'm having the neighbors over for dinner.

Shoveling out all of my parents rental units, and plowing the parking lots... Full day of work to keep up with the snow.  I hate winter.  Pray we don't get ice.

Lounging by the pool, soaking up some rays............ in my mind that is.

I have to work airport today. I'm guessing that there wont be any flights today, so I'll be taking my laptop in so I can at least  surf if things are shut down.

working tonight, probably later than normal
so I figure the snow will hit while I'm still in the office
then I'll get home and not too long after going to bed my neighbor will wake me up with his snow blower, if I'm lucky I'll fall back asleep for a bit then have to get up and do my own driveway before I go to work in the afternoon

you could probably make more money by calling into work, and cruising the roads with your 4x4 and a tow strap and charging idiots who feel its necessary to pass you in there prius, only to end up in the ditch .. I will be going to work, ill plow my way there if I must..

Is it snowing more than ever or is the media just going berserk over it? I grew up around WNY and don't ever remember the snow being such a big deal nor a surprise in the middle of winter. Must be a slow news day.

I remember getting multiple feet at a time and it was just another news day.

Cable News networks are the root of all of this

I don't know what the big deal is? It is winter, it snows up here during winter. The news makes a mountain out of a mole hill again.

I remind people of what I'm used to which is the opposite: 95+ degrees and 100% humidity for weeks.

I sat for a good couple minutes thinking about something meaningful to contribute, but the more I thought about what I would do today the more I realized I am most likely going to be stuck inside for most of it.  We're getting an icy mix the rest of the day.

I lol'd when I heard that all the schools had closed even before the snow got here. Of course the kids were elated, but I see that we got only about 2 inches overnight. It used to be that a snow day came when it was so bad that they couldn't even get the plows out to clear the roads. I guess I'll go out and shovel off the driveway. Why bother with the snow blower?

This one really didn't live up to expectations for NYS. Yesterday was worse.

We only got about 4" here in Irondequiot , but it was the heavy stuff. Hey we dodged another bullet! We should be grateful. Look at what some areas of the country got.
BTW, yesterday it took me an hour and a half to drive to Canandaigau. And that was after rush hour traffic!

I was up all night burning tires and shooting at passing cars for NOTHING!!

This storm was a bigger failure than the NJ Nets organization.  There goes the idea of a slow work day.

What gets me is the way the schools panicked and closed down because of the hysteria whipped up by the media.

The problem as I see it is that this is at least the third time this winter that our local weathermen have been wrong in their storm forecasting. If it keeps up people will stop listening to these guys when the warning is legitimate

The same way they bought the media telling them the person from Chicago as being worthy to be in the White House.

I know what you're saying, but still better this way than not having a warning and getting slammed.
Back when ( late 70's I believe) Rochester had the blizzard that never was. Monster snow warning,it's barreling our way, the entire city was shut down by noon or so. My boss one security guard and I were the only ones left in the entire plant. ( we were running a special heat treating process that could not be readily shut down). A lot of guys left us their lunches because at that time we were prepared to stay the night and beyond as necessary. IIRC Buffalo got slammed but the storm veered off before our area. Boy did that "failed" storm prediction make the headlines for the next several days. But it's Mother Nature and she can be very unpredictable.
