there was a huge thread on the technical forum when it got released...in my opinion it looks terrible, clunky and uncomfortable....plus it's extremely overpriced

That pretty much mirrors my feelings. If it was under $100 I might consider one for shits and giggles.

I went by Dixie Ammo Dump Today. He had several of the slide fire stocks on the shelf.

Yeah just got one few weeks back haven't tried it out yet. Problem is I put the magpul enhanced trigger guard on all my lowers and you can't use those with this stock only the flat ones. Sooo it looks like I'll have to remove it off one of them and it's a pain to get the little roll pin out been too lazy to mess with it. Maybe I'll get on it this weekend itching to try it out.

Co-worker bought one not long ago.  He says it works as advertised.  Can't justify the price, don't have the disposable income ($350 in S.E. Ga).

I think its pretty cool honestly. IMO though, I'd rather have a RR. The whole system would be cooler if they got it to work with .22lr's. In time, I still think the BATFE will say no.

IIRC trading places has an AR set up with one for rent in their indoor range.

Looked goofy and only for shooting off your right shoulder but kinda meh for me.

the store I work at got 20 in stock the other day

tryed it last night

match trigger makes them work better

they are ugly and over priced

I work for a class 3 dealer  so there is no need for me to waste my money on this product just my 2 cents

if you want to bumpfire send your ak to red star arms and have them drop in a match trigger

bumpfire needs a match trigger with no over travel and short reset and forward grip

you don't need the stock for that

What happens when teh ATF decides we are not allowed to own these things? Does the individual  owner have to destroy them?

Well in the case of the Adkins accelerator, there were two springs that made the thing work that had to be sent in to the ATF.

They work very well for their intended purpose.  As other posters have stated they're ugly as hell and way over priced.  I know of two dealers in S. GA that can't get enough of them to sell.  One sold 24 of them in 3 days.

It has no springs.  All it does is loosely hold the weapon in the stock in such a way that it can slide back and forth about 1/2".  It works standing up from the shoulder and from the prone just as well.  You can lay down some accurate fire with it with a little effort.

If the ATF wants to ban them they'll have to come up with some creative way to do it.  I'm sure the shoe string boys are quite capable of that but I think they're more worried about their asses going to prison over the Gun Walker  Debacle right now.  Even if they did ban it everyone I know of is paying cash for them.  Good luck tracking them down revenuers!

they don't seem to have to come up with very good reasons at all to ban stuff...

ETA:
I'll be honest with ya, I want to get my hands on one.  I have a throw around carbine that I think this would be fun to play with on.  I just have to many irons in the fire right now to think about it any further though.  I may re-evaluate that though in a couple of months.

One thing about the Akins unit is that he never actually sent the Ruger 10/22 unit in to the BATFE FTB for evaluation before going into production.  That would of helped his case instead of a "theoretical" letter....  Live and learn.

The gun shop/range in monroe had some the other day, too much $$$ for something that may or may not be made illegal one day.  If it was 100 or so maybe.

I handled one today on a rifle at Cherokee Gun and Pawn.  It seems well constructed of a quality plastic, and actually doesn't look that bad in my opinion.  I am really considering one, but I am wary of the ATF changing their monds on it.  I have a really plain AR-15 laying around, and a bunch of "tacti-cool" parts on a shelf in the closet.  All I would need in addition to the stock is a MBUIS and a Primary Arms cheapo (but decent quality) optic.  I ended up walojng away with a MOE handguard and light kit for my duty rifle instead.  But I am thinkgin about it!

I heard the same thing, except there was a twist. I was under the impression that Akins did not list the springs, for the 10/22, in the approval plans.

Therefore the ATF approved the stock, and then found out about the change in design. IMHO, they were mislead in the design. The springs made the 10-22

version work, hence making it a machine gun. That would explain why the ATF asked for the springs to be turned in.

The Slide Fire, works off recoil with no return springs. That is why the Slide Fire will not work on a 22. Your finger actually touches the trigger every time the gun fires.

It does it without the aid of anything but recoil.

I have to agree with the above poster, the ATF has much more to be concerned with, ie Gunrunner, Fast and Furious, etc.

PS, i picked one up the other day, and it works great. I have put it on a kick-a- round carbine. I can't wait to try it on the SBR 9mm upper.
