I'm new to the state - Where is there a nice range south of the cities?  I'm in the Faribault area.  Weather should be mild (above freezing).

Depends what kind of shooting (ie. rifle, handgun) you want to do.  There is a list of ranges tacked at the top of the MN page though.

"Mild" temperature in Minnesota this time of year is -5 to about 15 degrees.  Above freezing is considered "tropical" or commonly "shorts weather" for Minnesotans.

South of Hastings and west of Red Wing, there's a state forest, it surrounds the town of Welch.  On the DNR website, it says that you can go shooting in state forests, provided you follow certain rules (clean up your mess, etc.)  I think that would be a lot more fun than going to some lame-o range.

I have been looking for a free place to shoot for a long time.  I gave up on the state forest thing I could never figure out where to go to be legal.  The one south of Hastings (Hay Creek?) has conflicting signs.
Has any one ever shoot there?

I thought it was going to snow on sunday?
