News Story & VideoYesterday morning at 2:45AM, I was awakened by Bam-Bam-Bam-Bam-Bam-Bam-Bam-Bam.
Damn, that was a handgun I thought and I didn't hear any vehicle noise which I expected
to follow. Now the guy is running loose through the neighborhood, I speculated.
For some
stupid reason, I didn't call 911 which is retrospect was really in poor
judgement.
I felt safe inside the house and figured I would hear anybody trying
to get in. After 15 or 20 minutes I heard a couple cars tear down the street and then
some car doors close.
With Glock in hand, I looked out the front window and saw 3 guys with flashlights
who looked like LEO. They had placed a few markers in the street where they found
brass and bullets. They told me it was road rage and the occupants of one car had
shot at another car. At 2:45AM? I don't think so.
I think it was more like
criminals fighting over the evening loot. There was next to no traffic and the street,
Walnut, is a busy through fare. It's the middle of the night. Just who is out and about
at that time on Sunday morning?
Anyway, there was a few bullets(.45ACP) and brass scattered along the street. I
overheard the police questioning this, speculating that the shooter could have leaned
out the window when firing and the ejected brass was rolling around on top of the car.
Luckily, neither an ambulance or the County Medical Examiner were on site. The
troubling part was that a house 2 lots away had been hit. Seeing a bullet in front of
my house lead me to believe that the perp doing the shooting was sweeping while firing.
After watching the news video, the reporter stated that the firing took place
rightin front of my house!
