Shot the match today didn't do to bad for a first timer. Shot a 266 out of 400. Top shooter was a junior who shot a 355. He did have an advantage though. It wasn't his first time shooting a match and I believe he was using the rifle the club loaned him some time ago. I was in the top 1/3 of the class
. I even got the chance to pimp AR15.com to the top shooters old man
I also had a rifle that I wasn't supposed to adjust the sights. It was a private rifle set for the shooter at 200yrds. I did compensate and didn't do to badly at 300 considering I was set for a diffrent shooter at 200. However I have to give credit to a shooter on another forum for just about everything I did. I learned some in this clinic but Jim March from TheHighRoad showed me most everything.
This is what I shot with an Armalite AR-15
200 yrd aweful hand M,5,M,M,X,10,8,8,M,9 50-1
200 yrd sitting rapid 10,9,9,9,7,7,7,6,6,M
300 yrd prone rapid 10,6,M,8,7,9,7,8,9,10
300yrd prone slow X,10,9,9,9,9,8,8,M,M
This was also shot with Wolf 62gr ammo. Who knows what the score would have been with good ammo. I wish I would have known we would be shooting junk I would have brought my own. One other thing. One of the instructers said Wolf was reloadable that was scary. If I am not mistaken he was one of the two instuctorts from Hart barrels ACK.
All in all it was a good expierance. Wish some of you would have attended. I would have liked to see if I could outshoot any of my fellow NY brotheren.
I was also ammazed that people didn't there didn't have any clue that NY had it's own ban of "Assualt Weapons" on the books, and if the fed ban sunseted it wouldn't effect them in the least. Nor did they reliaze how that NJ and some others had bans of there own. They also kept calling the AR-15 an M-16. I was also informed that the Armalite AR-15 I was shooting was bought from the goverment and was a surples M-16. One big problem IT WASN'T. All in all the instructors can shoot but I would have to say are below par as far as other firearms info is concerned.
