Is it legal to sell a Ruger Mini 14 to a New Jersey resident?
What about 20 round or 30 round mags? Gun to be transfered through ffl.
Thanks for any help.

If the rifle is in post ban configuration, no bayonet lug, flashider or folding stock it's perfectly legal.

20 and 30 round mags are a no-no
15 round max capacity in Jersey (and not just tempoarily blocked)

Yes, It is postban and after reading your laws it looks like the mags are not legal because of being over 15 rounds.
Thanks for the help LUGERMAN

To clarify a bit of the previous information......
Gun is OK and goes through FFL.
It is legal for you to sell the mags if they are legal in your state. Buyer takes title F.O.B. your location. It is illegal for the buyer to posess them in NJ. NJ law stops at the border. The largest mag to legally posess in NJ is 15 rounds.

I have a pre ban with a bunch of mags if you want to trade. I only have the wood stock on it. Bought it for the ammo that went with it. Let me know in an email

edited to pre lol

I'm in NY and was about to sell my PRE ban Ruger Mini-14 to a co-worker who lives in NJ. Am I to understand that this must go through an FFL? Also, are the Pre ban rifles NG there?
Thanks

hold on
like an M1A you can have some evil features as there is no pistol grip
but i dont know how many

2

if the rifle has a detachable magazine it can only have one more goodie. or evil part.
M1A has flashhider and detachable mag.
AR's with pistol grips and magazine is cool ,no other goodies for that one. muzzle breaks-ok !

at one time mini-14 was no good. only the ranch rifle [same exept for goodies] was ok,
as far as i knew. crazy laws but could be worse.

I looked at the NJ laws posted here and they mentioned the mini-14 by name.

well then a local ffl here must have 3 ranch rifles
arent they pretty much identical to the mini 14 or mini 30

Private transfers (if permitted by state law) of both rifles and handguns are only permitted if both the seller and purchaser are both legal residents of the same state. The rifle must be transferred to your friend by either a NY FFL or a NJ FFL.

This is how it is listed in the statute:
Ruger K-Mini-14/5F and Mini-14/5RF

If the rifle in question matches the name shown in the statute, it's a no-go in Jersey, regardless of the number of evil features.

The K-Mini, ranch or regular, is the one with the folding stock as indicated by the K. Standard stocked Mini is OK.

The F in the Mini 14 description stands for the folding stock, the K stands for stainless.
