I believe it is fully legal.
The catch would be...
fixed stock, no lug, no flash suppressor.

You can have Two evil features, not three. Detach mag and Pgrip are evil.

Asasult Weapon:

Semi-automatic shotguns with two or more of the following:

Folding or telescoping stock
Pistol grip
Capacity of more than 5 rounds
Detachable magazine

I think we might be SOL...

gotta go with a thumbhole if you want to be strictly legal.

it's still worth doing the conversion, because even a thumbhole will be much more comfortable than the "hunter" stock.

The thumbhole is considered a pistolgrip by the ATF...

by ATF, but not by the Pistol Permit Bureau in NY, nor the NYS Troopers...ive spoken with both several times about this, but never were willing to send me something in paper on it

But it doesn't really matter in this context does it?  The S12 is semi-automatic, has the ability to accept a detachable mag.  It's magazine capacity exceeds 5 rounds since 5+ mags are in circulation.  Hence adding a pgrip would make it an AW.  If that weapon gets confiscated I'm sure it'll go straight to ATF, rather than the NYS Pistol Permit Bureau.

may be in circulation but, if you have no mags over 5 rounds then how does that work?

too much grey area

Possibly stupid question...
Why would ATF be involved...wouldn't it be the local NY/NJ police issue?

Can u convert a preban ak in to saiga12?
Sorry if these questions sound out there.
I'm just trying to learn.
