There is a winter league at Gary's Gun Shop.
It's modeled after practical shooting. Beginning January 9. Signup starts at 5:30 and brass falls at 6 pm. There is one different stage each week. (shot 3 times) Divsions are limited, open and revolver. Last year it was 10 bucks a week and ran 10 weeks. Hope to see ya there  p.s. - It's not a regular "league" where you have to show up every week. |

Well something new this year. I didn't get last place
 Here's a couple pics from week 1. Start on the left with your pistol on the stool. Engage first three targets from the box. Move to middle box and shoot the left and right targets from behind cover Reload behind cover, shoot the stacked targets. Move to the last box and engage last array strong hand only.   |

It was a lot of fun. Only problem with it is when you start shooting with some these guys, you get gun envy. I'm trying to tell myself I don't need an STI.
Meltdown, you should do a weekly summary of what transpired...course of fire, highlights, etc. Keep including pictures. |

Week 2 was a 20 round stage.
For those shooting a 1911 (like dissident) that meant a minimum of two mag changes. The double drop turn in the middle was fun. Ya gotta love rattling off four rounds in less than 2 seconds. Next week (#3), we are shooting in the dark. Bring your flashlight. Week #4 is usually a "no-peeking" stage. I love those! |

 I should start a thread in GD.You had to start in the dark flashlight off without previewing the stage Limit of seven rounds in the first magazine (so everyone had to reload) Targets must be engaged through the ports  after photoshop autoadjust:  |

Week 4
starting on the left engage the first three targets from the box. leave the box and engage middle array. engage last three targets from the box with the last (low) target through the port in the no shoot.

The summer/outdoor one is a blast. I haven't made it to the Gary's one, I have been working continually.. (12-14 hrs/day...) |

i would love to do this stuff, but i never find out about it until after the fact. not living in sioux falls doesn't help at all...
wish i could've gotten into this one - looks like a riot! that's ok, though... my sig is shooting awfully high w/ the new loads, so i guess it will give me time to get new sights installed. |

Start behind the box on the left side.
Step into box and engage far left target through left port. Engage other left target through the right port. Leave box and engage the middle array . However, the upside-down targets must be shot from UNDER the rope. Engage last two far right targets from far right box.   |

I got a sneak peek at this next week's stage.
It has double disappearing drop turns and a moving target on a rail. About 24 rounds with a bonus head shot on the mover. It's a hoser stage. My favorite kind. here it is:  start in the box on the left engage close target and two far targets. Step on the red box which activates the two drop turn disappearing targets The drop turns also actuate a moving target which moves left to right. 10 bonus points for a head shot on the mover. shoot the middle targets freestyle and then last two from the box on the right. |

Week 7
start seated with gun on stool. on signal engage first three targets seated. then leave the chair and box and engage the targets freestyle. The last three targets must be shot weak hand only from the box on the right.

 strong hand only 2 shots to the three torsos. reload & move ahead 12 feet two HEAD shots to each of the three targets with heads reload and move ahead 10 feet two shots to each torso weak hand only. |

wk10? as usual, excuse the crap camera.
This is the overview pic. Kinda Hard to see, so I've added extra pics. At the buzzer stomp the red box to activate the left disappearing drop-turn and it also starts the middle target rolling backward. As the middle target rolls back it trips drop-turn #2 . Then engage the far two targets and move to port 1. Behind port 1 are two hostage sillouettes with a four inch square cut out. Two shots each Port 2 . Engage the three targets behind port 2. Finally engage the remaining targets from the box on the right.  first array  Port 1  Port2   |

I'm very dissapointed in Rapid City for not having this action going on. Hopefully this summer I'll be able to get away from work long enough to make it to Sioux Falls, or at least Pierre for the South Central Handgunners matches.

I would be up to participate in one if Rapid had one. If I lived a little closer to sioux falls I would do the one there. Just too long of a drive. Would like to see what the 1911 and I could do.

Haha. Have something against 1911's do ya? Just messing.
Somebody should get something going here. Talk to some of the gun shops. But we don't really have a ton of indoor ranges here. Maybe Camp Rapid would let us use their range. |

That's the plan. This is the year for Rapid City! Seriously though, we'll talk this summer when we start shooting. Maybe have some informal matches, upgrade into one of the sanctioned events or just better advertised "outlaw" matches.
