I tried to do a search, with no results, so please don't flame me for asking. What's everybody's average wait time for the Form 1 from the ATF for an SBR? I want to do my 9mm, but I really don't want to wait 6 months to a year for it to be approved.

One of my FFL/SOT's here in the DFW area just had a Form 4 for an individual approved in 2 months!

Corp or individual transfer?

TRG

This will be an individual transfer if/when I decide to do it. Looked through the SBR FAQ, and although simple enough, I may have to read it once or twice more just to get everything straight.

EDIT: What happens if you SBR in Texas, and then move to another SBR-friendly state....does the engraving on the lower have to change, or does the engraving simply become the new "serial number"?

Well, you just have to file another form with ATF to tell them that you're moving. It's more of a notification. As to the engraving, it shall remain the same. It's just like Bushy's or RRA stamped on theirs.. except you're now the manufacturer.

I've heard any where from 1 month to 6 months for approval.

I just recently sent my form 1 in as an individual for a SBR. I was shocked as h ell that the Harris county CLEO signed it

My understanding is that you can get SBRs and full auto stuff, but no supressors, which seems backwards.  Of course, I am under the thumb of Hurtt myself ...

That's basicly what I was told too. I'm not sure why the Major thinks suppressors are taboo

I hear you but remember that at least you *can* do it - many in other states would gladly wait 6 months to make an SBR.

I think mine was about worst case - I think I hit the system right as they were moving offices and that really slowed things down. Well that and I bet there was a tidal wave of F1's after the AWB sunset.

Either way - do it now while you can.
