I'm in the CT Guard and I was wondering if I
can SBR my Glock 21?
Was wanting to use a KPOS setup with a
folding stock.

Yup. No problem as long as your CLEO signs off if you want a paper form one. Your higher class status only entitles you to install a threaded barrel. Us lowly citizens can't be trusted with...threads.

Edit: ATF may request you get a AWC for the pistol because they aren't competent enough to decipher thier own exemptions.

Not unless you registered it before 01/01/14, or you find a preban and register that now. The ATF won't give stamps on non registered serial numbers.

Maybe I'm wrong, but wouldn't converting to an SBR make it an AW?

Yes and no. According to CT it is still just a pistol. But with his .mil ID he can register it with Despp and then Form 1 it.

I see, mil/leo allows him to register a pistol (but not rifle), then that reg can be given to ATF on form 1.

.mil allows you to purchase new AWs. LEOs need the signature of their chief, .mil do not.

BATFE should not need an AW registration since you do not need one to own AWs. However you might find the BATFE wants it anyway.

I'm guessing the BATFE will want an AWC.

They want it with a preban AR lower (on a form 1) even though CT law exempts them and the state doesn't see a need for it just because you SBR'd it.
