I was just wondering if any members here are from Riverside or the surrounding area.
If anyone does live around there, do you know anything about Tuxie's Drive-In over on Magnolia and how it's doing? My grandfather started it back in the day and I used to spend a lot of time there up as a little kid up until we sold it and moved north.

Sorry for the long wait, but I was born and raised and still live in the 'side.  Tuxies is still around and doing well.

That's awesome and great to hear, thank you man! I need to get back down there and check out the old place one of these days

An old family friend told me that they are only selling juices,
smoothies and salads nowadays with the occasional taco night or
something, so that news is quite a relief

Yes it's still there. My mom and dad would hang out there in the mid 60's when they went to Poly High.

If they were regulars they might know my dad or uncle, that's about when they started working there.

Do you happen to know if Tuxie's still does the cruise nights?

Hm, never been to Tuxie's but now I have a reason to next time I'm in Riverside... I live about 30 minutes south down the 15.

You said it's on Magnolia? What's the nearest cross street?

I just looked it up on Google maps and it looks like it's called "Tuxie's Juices" now . Oh well, I suppose it opens up the market for them a bit. I'm guess just not too stoked about having my name associated with juices

Anyway, it looks like the closest cross street is Jurupa Ave. If they still have the original menu with burgers and such I'd highly recommend the buffalo burger

The best buffalo burger I had was one from Tuxie's, I don't know about nowadays but it used to be something else

Heh, as it turns out I have a gift card to AMC theaters, and there's one in Riverside. And they'll be showing Taxi Driver on the big screen in a few weeks. I know where I'll be having dinner that night, then...

Not from there, but, I joined the Navy out of the recruiting station across from the mall on Tyler.

When did they graduate from Poly?  My grandma was '34, my Dad '64 and I was 2000.

Bad news DTux.  I haven't been to Tuxies in a long time, so I went by yesterday.  Apparently it is still called Tuxies, but now it is Tuxies Juices and is a Mexican food joint.  I know they still have classic car nights and they have burgers and whatnot then, but now it looks to be a Mexican food place.  Here are some pics, I took them on my phone and these were the only 2 that came out worth a shit, sorry.

Thank you so much for the pictures man, it's good to see the old place again and know that there's still cruise nights

As for the contents of the pictures:

Well, my family has been talking about trying to buy the original sign from
them for a while now, by the looks of things it seems like they may consider an offer.

I bet you could get that sing.  It looks OK, just needs some paint and it will be good as new ;)  Sorry to have to break the bad news to you.

I hope my family and I can get something worked out with them. After showing a couple family members the pictures it sort of revived talk of opening a legitimate Tuxie's Drive In up here, so for that the sign would be a nice touch

It's all good though, bad news is the hardest to deliver and in any case it might be leading to some future good news from this end
